Father In Law/Daughter In Law Dance

posted 1 year ago in Beehive

My father passed away ten years ago.  Originally, I was going to just skip the father/daughter dance at our reception.  However, I have grown very close to both my future MIL and FIL.

I decided to ask my future FIL to do a first dance with me.  He was so touched that he got teary eyed.  I knew that I had made the right decision by his reaction and mine!

Now, I am just trying to find the right song for us to dance to.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

TIA!

Are you looking at a slow reminiscent song or are you looking for a more happy upbeat song?  I've got a whole list of songs I've compiled for my wedding, and it's too much to post here, but if you'd like to see it, I could email it to you.  Just get in touch with me at tyeung612@yahoo.com and I'll send it to you!

DH and his mom danced to 'God Only Knows' by the Beach Boys, but there is also a nice version by Petra Haden.

  • My Wish by Rascall Flatts
  • I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack
  • True Colors (cover) by Eva Cassidy
  • Treat Her Right by Sawyer Brown (if you like country, this is a nice song that can be interpreted as being addressed to your FH from your FIL about you... does that make sense?)
  • Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World medley by Israel Kamakawiwo Ole, is lighthearted, fun, and sweet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A2Jt4WOxN8
