As we are getting these from a supplier, these mint tins will come shrink wrapped (imagine: transparent shrink wrapping layer and then name of mints on top of the mint tin). We will be colour printing (with names and wedding dates), xyroning our own stickers and pasting the stickers on the mint tins.
My question is this: (A) Should we slap our stickers right on top of the shrink wrapping layer (for hygiene purposes, but which also means that our stickers will be disposed of once our guests tear off the shrink wrapping :( ) OR (B) should we tear off the shrink wrapping and slap our sticker right on top of the mint tin thereby covering the mint tin and "personalising our mint tins" (ie our wedding stickers will stay there longer than just the wedding ceremony. :) Hygiene wise, we will obviously take care to ensure that the mint tins will be unwrapped only closer to the wedding and entrusted to a trustworthy helper :)) ?
Or is the above a non-issue at all (and I am just being too careful :))
For me, I would definitely take off the shrink wrap! I find that the clear wrap can look a little tacky on the table. But also, it would be nice to have your personalized sticker right on the tin so whenever they open it, they remember where they got it from. I also find that xyron stickers are rather easy to remove later if they plan to use the tin for something else.
If you don't want the mints to be falling all over the place, you can put a clear circle seal on the flap to make the guests feel it is somewhat fresh. :)
I do not think it would be an issue if the tins were not shrink-wrapped. I am planning to do mint tins as well and mine will not be shrink wrapped. I agree with pinkparfait that if you are concerned your guests will think hygiene is an issue, you should seal them with a clear seal. It will be way cooler to have your tins still be personalized after they've been opened.
PlumDrama.com sells mint tins that have a shrink wrapped band around the edges/sides of the tins but the top and bottom are unwrapped so it's perfectly safe (hygiene wise) and it still looks great design wise. This way those guests that might mind unshrink wrapped food will be happy and it will look great so you'll be happy too!
Hi bees!
We are exploring the idea of having mint tin boxes (with mints in it) as our wedding favors. (something like these: http://www.americanbridal.com/personalized-mint-tins-dskplobster.html )
