Hi Bees! I have very exciting news!! I’m Engaged 🙂 Ive been a memeber for a couple of months.. and visisting the site for a bit before that so to finally be able to post as an engaged bee is FLIPPING EXCITING!!!
Anyway I thought it would be fun to share my proposal story..
My FI (now I can say that… squeee!!) had to take a trip to Melbourne for a professional development course and had a week off work after the course finished so he decided to fly me to Melbourne for the week off to join him so we could have a little getaway together. Unbeknownst to me he had the proposal planned and had already started ring hunting for about 2 months before we left. My birthday came and went followed by our anniversary and I was getting a little bit more sad every time he had to fly back to site (as he is 2 weeks on, one week off at the mines as a grad engineer). I had a suspicion that it may happen on our holiday (he said it would happen “in the good quadrent of soon” a few weeks prior.. whatever that means lol) but I didn’t really give it much thought because I didn’t want to be dissappointed or sad if it didn’t.
So we went skiing for a couple of days and had a blast and I was having such a fun time that I would have been happy with just the awesome holiday.. when… we were visiting the 12 apostles (which is MAGICAL!!) and FI suggested we climb the stairs down the cliff to the beach. This was quite surprising considering he is deathly scared of heights and wouldn’t normally get anywhere near the edge of a cliff!! So we were walking along the beach and FI suddenly told me that I had taken enough pictures and he took the camera off me.. then he decided that actually I should take some photos of the cliff face.. whaaa?? As I was taking the photos of the cliff face (and kinda confused) he told me not to turn around because he was writing me a message in the sand behind me (now I clicked and was getting excited.. but still thought it could just be a love heart with our names or something).
After what seemed like FOREVER (I later found out that a wave had snuck up on him and washed away the original message so he had to re-write it poor guy) he took my hand and walked me backwards, eyes still closed, and told me that on the count of three I could look… and on the count of three this is what I saw…
… beside him, down on one knee asking me to marry him! <3
I dropped both of our cameras in the sand from excitement (oops) and, of course, said YES!
