I don't think so, my ering is 9K yellow gold and my wedding band is two toned 18K white and yellow gold and it looks fine IMO. Have you tried them both together to see if you like it?
Honestly the only difference will be how they wear over time. Initially, the gold should look the same.
THe only difference between them is that there is a higher gold content in 18K gold than in 14K (which means there are less metal alloys in the 18K). Most white gold is covered/finished in a Rhodium plating (a member of the Platinum family). OVer time the ring will be worn down and more of the yellow gold will start to show through giving the white gold a slightly yellowed appearance. This is easy to fix with a quick clean, polish and "re-dipping" in Rhodium - most jewelers do it for free if you buy your ring there. (mine only wears down on the underside of my band). Over time your two rings might "wear and tear" differently...but that is an easy fix IMO. :)

My engagement ring is a 6 prong round solitare set in 18K white gold. The band I love is 14K white gold. I am going to get my rings put together, do you think this differnece in gold would be a problem?
