It’s time for me to make up my mind and pick my E-ring setting tonight!
When we first started this process I fell head-over-heels in LOVE with a setting. We both agreed it was “the one”. I didn’t get a pic of it on my hand unfortunately. This is the stock photo of it (it’s really SO much prettier in person) shown with a 1 carat center.
With our minds made up about the setting, we set forth on a mission to find the perfect stone. I always assumed we would end up getting a 1 carat center max. He insisted that he wanted to go for a 1.5 carat stone. And to my surprise/shock/elation, a 1.5 carat stone he bought. It’s more amazing than I ever could have hoped or wished for & I am smitten with it! Here’s a photo of it on my 7.5 hand in the tension clasp it arrived in.
Now, my question to all of you halo lovers out there is, will this stone look good in the halo setting I originally fell in love with? Seeing the stone as it is now, I almost hesitate to add anything that may take away from it. Will it look too big? Honestly, I never thought there was such a thing as too big (especially given that I have pretty large hands), but I can’t help but wonder if I should go with a more simple, maybe even solitaire, setting?
This isn’t a matter of halo love vs. halo hate. There’s no question that I’ve always wanted a halo ring. But rather does this halo work with this stone? Any pics of 1.5 RB center stones with halos would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance! 🙂

I have a 1.65 center stone and a halo. I say halo!

If you love the halo, there’s no reason not to go with your dream setting. I think that stone looks amazing as is and would be a gorgeous solitaire but if you love the halo it would look stunning as a halo also!

@KDOS: i think it would look beautiful in your setting! go for your dream setting absolutely 🙂

I think it’ll be fine. I have a size 5 finger, 1.70 center stone with a halo. I think that your halo will look gorgeous on your hand with that stone! If you want the halo, get it! You won’t regret it cause extra bling is always nice, but I think if you steer a different way, from how you talk about wanting a halo, you might have regret about it.

I love halos so I’m biased but I say get it! It’s gorgeous!

I think it would look great with a halo.

@KDOS: I think starting with a 1.5 center and then adding a halo will make it look pretty big, but if that’s the look you want, then definitely get your dream ring!

@KDOS: will that setting accommodate a 1.5 and still have the center set down in to it such as the pic? I love my halo. I think halos shave a romantic feel. But it truly is personal pref as you’ll be the one staring at it:). Mine is 1.5(eqv) in hola lo. The halo adds about another 1mm. I love the amount of finger coverage. Shrinkage is a very real thing. Lol. Best of luck.

Beautiful stone! I love the setting you picked also, it will look amazing! I know what you mean about worrying if it is too much, I worried about mine also. I have a 2.1 ct center with a halo and a huge band, so I am sure its not for everyone, but I love it. I think you will adore yours also! Go for what you love.

@als1214: yes, the setting can be made custom to fit any size stone.
@heathuhhhhwebbbb: wow, drool! I love your ring & the little curls on the side, so pretty! And you make a good point, I would really hate to look back and regret not getting my favorite setting.
I think you ladies are right; I love it and need to stop worrying! Thanks again!!

@KDOS: I think that it would look amazing in the halo setting, that setting is amazing! It will be substantial, but I do not think it would be too big.
Mine is a 6.5mm white sapphire center in a halo, it has nice finger coverage.
