    Well… I mean it’s not like you would be unhappy with a big diamond haha. For me, I’m just weird I guess. Size 4.75 fingers, but got a 5 since my fingers swell like crazy for no reason, and I asked DH (SO at the time haha) not to get me anything bigger than half a carat because it seemed like “enough”. But he surprised me with a 3/4 carat, and it’s PERFECT. It’s also a round. I think diamond shape has a lot to do with it… because my SIL has a 2.5 carat princess, and it honestly doesn’t look THAT big. Like.. it’s big, but not insane. Anyway, I ramble. I thought .75 looked perfect on my size hand (I have pretty small hands, not just slender fingers on a long hand, if that makes sense.) because of my halo… Here I will show you.

    Anyway.. haha We were trying to be very budget conscious, so I was thrilled with my ring size on my finger. That’s not to say that 1.5 carats wouldn’t be GORGEOUS. It just would be very large with a halo. Which would be stunning! Have you tried them on? That might help 🙂

    (for what it’s worth, my specific halo had a million issues and ended up being recalled, so I had to get it reset. I didn’t get a halo, and now I don’t feel like my ring is “me” and am adding a cushion halo to my round center diamond as well!)

    @inwaiting:  Right?? I thought it looked way bigger than a .75, but nope… It’s definitely a .75 haha I actually agree with your SO… double halos sometimes can look like a cocktail ring. Not always though! They can also be very gorgeous! If I were you though, I would NOT do a 1.5 ct in a double halo on a little finger like yours haha might be… a bit much? But that’s just my personal opinion. I’m actually not sure the size of the diamonds in my halo, but they aren’t that big. I want to say it was like .5 carats total, split among 18-20 diamonds? So like .025 carats each? Maybe haha I don’t remember. I always knew I wanted a halo, but I didn’t know I wanted a round diamond.. I went in with my heart set on an oval haha but then.. I tried on The One haha. However, I had to get a new setting since mine had issues, and I didn’t get a halo.. biggest mistake of my life!! I’m adding a halo back as soon as possible. But if it helps, here’s my new set, same .75 carat diamond. Just to give you an idea of finger coverage 🙂

    And I am hoping to get a cushion halo added 🙂

    @inwaiting:  I think it depends a lot on where you live and what your social circle has. If you live in a place where people have that kind of carat weight and that’s what you like then go for it. Where I live people don’t even have engagement rings so I would feel out of place with something very big and would be bothered that most people would assume it’s a fake.

    Personally I’d get it without a halo. At that finger size I think 1.50 plus a halo would be too much.

    I love my ring, I don’t know much about shapes etc, but my diamond is round just over 1.5 ct and I belive I have a cushion halo, it’s slightly squared but rounded edges, and I have diamonds all around the band on all three sides 🙂  Here’s a photo…my ring size is a 5.5, but the ring is currently at a size 6 with sizing beads, waiting for winter to go have mine re-sized, they jewelery can’t seem to get it right!!

    @inwaiting:  That’s about the size of my ring/finger. I have a 1.44 round in a cushion halo, and I wear a size 5 tight. I think it’s a great size 🙂

    Lucky girl! I love halos but the hubby was not a fan. I drool over all the stunning halos here on the bee. I do think a large halo on that size stone can look a little cocktail ringish. Also, it can take away from your large beautiful stone. I prefer the smaller dainty halos that are more underneath the stone if that makes sense. Something like these. I love the first one. Congrads on your engagement!

    Here’s a picture from farther away so you can get some perspective on it.

    I think it depends on your lifestyle. I wear a 5.25 ring and I tried on some 1.5 and 1.25 rings with a halo and they were too big for me, so we ended up going with a .80 center stone, which is perfect, and I think I could have gone up to a 1 carat and still been fine. I also work with my hands a lot and didn’t want anything that was going to get in the way, because I didn’t want to have to take it off for work,ect. If I had a desk job or was less of a hands on person ( I waitress and do makeup on the side, I also do a lot of artsy projects) I probably would have felt fine going bigger.
