My LO is 15months and shes sick, its the second time she gets sick so quickly after the last time, sigh, i have bought her organic medicines [similasan, chestals] but they dont seem to do anything.
She has a runny nose, cough, congested chest. And i was wondering what i can give her medicine wise. i give her infant advil but its not specifically for colds.
i do have a cool mist humidifier that we use when shes sick, i give her warm lemon juice with a little honey too.
any tips on what i can do to make it go away, i feel soo useless when shes sick ugh

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: lol oh. I thought maybe she meant a pet. HA.
Yeah…when kids get sick, take them to the doctor, right?

@peachacid: haha Yea.
I think what she means is, her toddler only has a cold & there is a big thing going on now about how its a big no no to give a toddler OTC cold medicine. lol

Have you done a steam bath? That helps my kids a lot with congestion. We also do Vicks Baby Rub (specifically the baby kind, since kids can’t use menthol until 2+ years old) on their chests and give DD extra citrus fruits to eat, to try and increase her Vitamin C intake (she loves clemetines!). Unfortunately, with little ones, it’s a lot of just waiting it out. 🙁

peachacid lol no pet just my lil munster
i took her to the dr last time, same shit as always’ its a virus, itll go away on its own’
She started being sick last night, her nose was stuffy and i could hear her having a hard time breathing.
Mrs. Spring I do shower her with a warm water and put bubbles in the tub so it helps, i use a nasal spray for her too, and the humidifier, and rub the baby vicks on her chest back and feet.
She doesnt want to eat though and she is a fatty, so i give her pedialyte idk what else?
Mrs.Estep thanks luve!

Just keep her hydrated and comfy…..and unfortunatley wait it out =)

You’re doing all the right things. This time of year there are a lot of kids sick with colds and unless she has a fever or an ear infection, you really do have to just wait it out.
Pedialyte is good. Does she likes smoothies? What about drinkable yogert (like Danimals)?
I prefer the warm mist over the cool mist humidifiers. The warm steam is more soothing than the cool.

@Missus_LLC: DD loves the Pedialyte popsicles; she thinks they’re a special treat! Also fruit pouches and smoothies are special treats in our house, but easy to suck down. Cow’s milk might exacerbate her congestion, but you might try almond, soy, or rice milk, if she’ll take it. Beef or chicken broth, too, if she’s willing to take it. As long as she stays hydrated, you don’t have to worry too much about getting solid foods in her. She’ll start eating normally again soon, and until then, her little body doesn’t need more calories than what she can get from liquids.
I hate cold season! We just went through the first cold of the season a couple weeks ago, and it was miserable since both kids got it AND DS was teething! Luckily it only lasted about a week, with only a few days that were really bad.
