I’ve never seen it broken down per hour. The caterers we looked at all were priced per person for the entire event, e.g. $X/person.

Since you are in WNY, I assume this would be for the whole 4 hours. That seems pretty standard from what I’ve seen while researching in the area. $16/pp/per hour would be EXTREMELY unusual for the area.

It should be for four hours! $16 pp/hour would probably assume each person would drink a bottle per hour…

It seems very low, so I would think its $16 per person per hour for open bar. Most open bars I have seen in my venue searches are closer to $40-60 per person for the whole event.

I don’t think it’s per hour – I would say it’s a total per person cost.  If it is per hour, yoru venue is seriously outpacing all of the venues I looked at in downtown DC!

I did research on places in Toronto and places in WNY. $16/hour would be pretty standard in Toronto but crazy in WNY.

@AmyFarrahFowler:  Eek! Where are you from?!

My catering is chargeing $18 per person [breakdown] per hour!

I’d die laughing if they charges $40!

Gotta comment on grapeslice:  (Reply # 10)

No wonder all you American Bees (even from Big Cities like NYC) can afford to host an Open Bar for your Weddings.

Here in Canada, it would indeed be something like $ 10 to $ 20 per person per hour… because of our crazy antiquated liquor laws (and the high cost of booze… and tax & tip 28% min to begin with)

This is EXACTLY why you’ll read that so many of us have Cash Bars… we just cannot afford to come up with Thousands or Tens of Thousands of Dollars to provide Drinks for our 5 to 8 Hour Soirees.

Makes planning a Wedding Reception here in Canada very depressing at times.

@jenilynevette:  I’m from NJ. I also didn’t know that it was possible for get catering for $18 per hour. Everything is soooo expensive here!

@This Time Round:  That’s true, in Canada liquor prices are through the roof. Another reason we’re getting married in my hometown in NC. I think our bartender is like $8 a hour per person and we just provide all the alcohol for the event.
