oh dear...go to a dermatologist right away..you need to get on antibiotics and possibly they can give you some treatements to prevent/get rid of the scars- hug
I agree, only a dermatologist can perform miracles in this time frame! That's one reason I'm terrified of going off BC!
I second the doctor suggestion. Of course, I went yesterday for poison ivy. It's still spreading and the wedding is Saturday. Augghhhh
Could it possibly be stress?
I agree though, I'd see a doctor,
Stress is definately a factor... but I'm a teacher, trying to finish our "necessary" rooms to our new house so we can come home to our house after the honeymoon, and a bride! I will try the dermatologist I guess. I was hoping some of had some magic-wand recipes! My ears are still open!
Derm PA here to say yes, an antibiotic will quiet things down the quickest and they'll give you some topicals too; you should get in ASAP.
Okay, I'm only 14 days away from the wedding and it's not really improving. Are there ANY other options than antibiotics???
Try an oatmeal bath to reduce the reddness and the swelling. It is really gross, but it will help. Also, try putting on some Aveeno ACTIIVE NATURALS Skin Relief MOISTURIZING LOTION with soothing oat essence. It has a blue label. I though that I was having a major breakout and it turned out to be dry skin. The Aveeno lotion really helped.
This might sound weird but must 3 step skin cares for acne work for the short time as i the first month of use before your skin gets used to it or some other factor...mayb you should give those ago and have clearer skin on the day...
I have noticed these other things have helped me a lot:
cut raw potato and rub the wet fresh part of it all over the areas let is dry 5-10 min wash your face..
drink green tea..and splash over your face..helps reduce redness and clear your skin from the inside out
leave some overnight acne fighting product over it before going to bed.
try mud masks..or the famous aspirin mask
DO NOT PICK on your skin IT WILL make everything worst and it will not heal fast enough.
make sure to moisturize your skin to keep it from getting irritated...try honey mask here and there, and your regular moisurize.
use honey+sugar scrub 2-3 times a week to remove dead skin.
i wish your ALL THE BEST try your best not to stress out :)
xoxo
@heleneberrycrunch: it really works. I got very sensitive skin and break out from thing such as hair removal this has been the ONLY thing that helped me get rid of those UGLY breakouts...works great on body acne too (never again will i wax my upper arm area)
To add to my other post try Tea Tree Oil it is better than chemicals such as BP and is gentle on the skin.
do not be too harsh..remember you can cover redness by dry flaky skin is almost impossible to cover up.
not sure if you got enough time for anything to ship to you but Mario Badescu 's Drying lotions and buffering lotion are known to act fast they have sulfur in them which is VERY effective with acne...from what i heard they have a set available at Ulta so give that a try first :)
also DO NOT FORGET to drink LOADS of water..my skin has improved almost 100% since i have committed to drinking as much water as i can :)
good luck :)
Thanks for all of the tips!!! I'm drinking a lot more water and green tea. I have heard of the green tea, aspirin, and the potato tricks but sometimes one forgets these things....
I'm also NOT PICKING anymore. **sigh*** I am a serial face picker. Like even when my skin is perfectly clear I'll find some pores to extract (and that usually causes a fresh new batch of breakouts.)
And I need to clean my cell phone!! Gross!
How about a good exfoliation? Maybe get a facial and let them make some recommendations. I've been breaking out a lot on my forehead lately and it's getting a little better with careful attention but luckily I have bangs.
Prednisolone (mild steroid) can work v well, sometimes. Given your time scale - doc should be willing to prescribe.
i've been having these crazy breakouts lately as well (new bcp) so i invested in some origins products. a little pricey, but they seem to be working. i don't know what kind of skin you have (oily, dry, sensitive, etc.) but this is the regiment i follow (i have oily skin, btw):
every morning and night:
like i said, i've only just started all of this about a month or so ago (with the exception of the out of trouble mask - i just started using that this week) and it seems to be helping. my face is much softer and my pores are visibly smaller and i don't have hardly any blackheads any more - my cheeks/nose used to be covered in them. :( i'm now just working on taming the breakouts, but i'm hoping the out of trouble mask will continue to help with that. i'm also waiting to finish my current cleanser (just b/c i have an issue with just throwing it away - it was brand new!) so i can start using the zero oil one.
i know origins is expensive - everything i listed above is ~$120 - but it will last you a good while (about 3-4 months) as you don't need to use a whole lot. if you can't shell out for all of it at once (i couldn't), i'd definitely recommed at least the out of trouble mask and the spot remover. those will be the ones to attack your breakouts the most. hopefully this helps! i know it can be really frustrating - apparently i reverted back to my middle school years again too and it sucks. let me know how it turns out if you do decide to try some of these products. good luck!
oh. also, if you can't shell out for all of the products but still want to try them, go into a store, tell them you're interested but aren't sure if you want to spend all that money on them without knowing whether they'll work or not. they should offer you some samples - that's what i did.
it really isn't a lie though - their products are expensive compared to the drugstore stuff i used to use. even just the samples should be enough to get you to at least your wedding day and if you decide you like them, then you can shell out for them afterward.
Go to your dermatologist and ask him for a creme with 1% erythromycin in it.
It made my skin totally perfect after about a week and didn't have any negative effects.
Get thee to a dermatologist. They can inject them with cortisone to reduce the redness and they should go down quickly without scarring.
How is your skin doing now? i hope you are seeing some improvement :)
This is going to sound crazy, but I suffer from acne which seems to be hormonal. My sister started taking Evening Primrose Oil supplements and she swore they have helped clear up her skin. I thought she was crazy but I was willing to give it a try anyway. I started taking them about 2 weeks ago, and within DAYS I noticed a big difference.
Take the 1000 mg pills, three times a day. You should be able to get them at any neighborhood drugstore or grocery store.
Yes, see a dermatologist. Definitely do oral antibiotics (remember they can make your birth control pills less effective) and maybe also antibacterial cream and/or Retin-A. I've had bad breakouts that have totally calmed down within a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, stress can make it worse so try to stay calm. Good luck!
If you haven't seen a derm yet, you might also ask about Spironolactone - mine prescribed it for me when I went off the pill and my face went berserk, and it's been a miracle-worker. It's not an antibiotic, but rather a blood pressure medication that also limits hormonal fluctuations, the convenient side effect being a really dramatic effect on hormonal breakouts. If the acne just started once you got off the pill, then that's almost certainly what's going on, so Spironolactone might be a good fix. The difference in my complexion, even in just the first week, was huge, so it might be an okay quick fix for you before your new BCP takes over. Good luck!!
How are you doing? Hope all's calmed down by now. Have a great wedding this weekend!
I'm with the majority.. go to your dermatologist and get cortizone shots on the breakout areas.
If that is not a possibility ... MARIO BADESCU!
http://www.mariobadescu.com/drying-lotion
This thing works within hours!
If THAT'S not a possibility ... PREPARATION H! << it's kinda embarrassing to bring this up to the counter but ... it truly helps. :)
Good luck!~

...That are all over my face, neck, chest, back, and shoulders! What the heck happened??? Did I revert back to 17 years old over the past month???
Truth be told, I had a scare where I had to go to the ER with TIA (minor stroke) symptoms and seeing as how docs couldn't pinpoint what happened, I came off of the BCP that I was on. It was one of the ones that rumors and lawsuits were whirling about for strok, heart attacks, etc. SO, after stopping that, my skin went crazy. Due to the timing of mother nature on her own "natural" state, I am just now getting back on BCP....a different brand of course. So my skin is still crazy because I JUST started it again and I only have 17 days until my wedding. In essence:
I NEED H-E-L-P! And >>>Fast!!! Any succesful tips that work in, say, a week??
