This project took a bit of time. I crocheted 160 fortune “cookies” as a little personal favor (there will be other favors too), put a key ring on them, stuffed them with personal “fortunes” and made the litte pyramid box to hold them. The box will be the escort card with a tag tied to the ribbon.
I thought the fortune cookie fortune would be a good ice-breaker as people sat down to their table. People always share their fortunes.
Total cost for everything = $19 for 160 wedding favors/escord cards
Total time = about 30 hours spread over 3 months.
The litte boxes are really easy/fast to make. I posted the how to here: http://craftywedding.wordpress.com
I don’t like matchy-matchy too much, so all the boxes are in various black/white patterns from the same scrapbook tablet. They could be filled with lots of little items too.
Sorry for the large pics–but I’m just really happy to have this one done 🙂

@sheepandbear: Not sure about doing them with my eyes closed, but definitely during many hours of watching hockey games and “say yes to the dress!
@geekspice: Thanks! I know I should have done little Chinese take out boxes, but they are much more complicated cut out/template with lots of folds, etc. I really like the ease & look of these. They are just as fast as wrapping a small box (or faster).
One of my fortunes read “No one expects the fortune cookie in the pyramid box.”
Thanks everyone! You all made me feel really good 🙂

@wabanzi: So cute! I learned to crochet when I was 7 and I love it but my hand is cramping up just thinking about doing all that!
