So i found these invitations that match my overall wedding theme but not my colors. The wedding invitations are a purple vaudeville theme and my wedding is going to have a 1920’s feel. The invitations are like a annoucement of a show coming into town and I love them but my wedding colors are black, white and red. The theme at the ceremony and reception will be more great gatsby but the cocktail hour will be a speakeasy theme. Is it ok to pull in the vaudeville in my wedding invitations?

Your theme sounds lovely!

I think they sounds perfect! And it’s not like the guests are going to pull out the invitations and be like “The decor is red and the invitations are purple – ghastly!”

@smithk3: OMG! I used those!!! Brian is freaking awesome. Do it do it do it!!!!! We used the red white and black ones even though our colors were purple and mocha. People absolutely raved about our invitations!

Those are cute but I don’t think they go with “Great Gatsby” (which I envision as being more elegant) and speakeasy. I don’t think it matters about the colors at all, but the invitations you posted would make me expect a carnival type theme.
Art Deco style invitations might complement the vibe I’m imagining you’re going for. Something like this:
Or something like this?
