My BFF’s 2nd child is turning one. I was thinking about getting her a pair of baby converse as a present… but have no idea if that’s a bad idea and would love some input.
Her daughter is currently in size 5 shoes (size 24 mo clothes) – she’s a big girl!
She’s not walking yet. She has 3 pairs of shoes already.
I was thinking about buying a size 6 or 7 pair of shoes – so she has something as she grows.
Converse came to mind because I figured they are novel enough and I know the mom and dad will get a kick out of it.
I wanted to stay away from buying clothes or toys – because she has limited room for toys and clothes are so subjective (even more than shoes, IMO).
If anyone has a better idea for a 1st b’day gift, I’m all ears! I’d like to keep it to $50 or under.
Thanks in advance!

It’s supersticion but I always heard you should never buy shoes as a gift. The theory/supersticion is that as the soles of the shoes wear down so does the friendship. It’s silly but I’d still not buy shoes as a gift!!

@oracle: I think shoes are cute!!! I bought my FH’s niece shoes for her first bday. She was also a 5! She pulled them out of the box and screamed and wanted to wear them!!! It was the cutest sight ever.

My sister-in-law actually reaaally wanted a pair of converse for my neice, so I bought them for her first birthday. She looked so so so cute rocking her chucks and everyone loved them! I think they’re a very cute idea!

Thanks, everyone. I think I’m going to do it!
I’m curious about shoe sizing – if she’s a 5 right now – how fast is typical to grow between sizes? I figure she’ll be walking in a few months and was planning to buy size 6, but I’m thinking maybe I should do a 7??
@MrsF13: What color you chose? 🙂

@oracle I got her some grey hightop ones. They don’t like to dress her in a lot of pink and they loved these ones. She looked so cute!!

I’d like that! I’d vote purple.
