i have my first fitting today and i am super excited 🙂 i am wearing the Marisa 815 dress i purchased off the rack. since i have NO idea what i am doing and my wedding is quicky comming i booked the first alteration apt available as soon as possible. BUT i do not have my undergarments yet? i don’t plan on wearing anything crazy…just a strapless bra and panties so is it OK to have the first fitting without them. i ordered it online it just hasn’t come in yet.
and the shoes….i am getting married on the beach so i will be barefoot for the ceremony but wanted to wear heels for the reception on the patio..will this mess up teh laternations??? heels are about 2 inches.
many thanks! i am so happy to find a place where i can ask all these small but important questions that make us loose sleep!!

Since you aren’t wearing any fancy undergarment like a corset or anything, I would just wear a strapless bra and underwear similiar to what you will be wearing on that day. Hopefully they come in soon so you can have them for your next fitting.
In regards to the length I would bring your shoes with you, these are a must to ensure that you have the correct hem. I would tell the seamstress your plan but I think you best bet it to have your dress fitted as if you would be wearing the two inch heels. It’s okay if your gown is a little long for the ceremony but it won’t look right if it’s too short for the reception.

Well, they always recommend you wear the indergarments you’ll be wearing the day of for your fitting appointments, as well as your shoes. The no shoes, wearing shoes is a little trickier. My daughter is doing the same thing as you are (getting married barefoot, shoes for reception),so the gown was altered to her with shoes on. The actual ceremony and beach time will be a shorter time period, so the seamstress suggested doing it the other way (with shoes).

I agree with roxy on both points! You should be fine with just wearing a strapless bra and underwear similar to what you’ll be wearing, and for the length I would definitely bring the shoes!! And explain your plan to the seamstress and see what she suggests!
