How long they will allow you to go past your due date.

Anything that is important to you… if you want no medical interventions and such I would suggest voicing such things. Some people feel like their OB believes things should be done THEIR way, and aren’t accepting of how you want to do things.

@ScottishMrs:  What sort of things do you want to know?

At your point in pregnancy, I think you’ve pretty much figured out what to eat/what to avoid/etc…

Maybe ask about the birth process?  Like, what are the hospital’s standard procedures, and how accommodating are they if you choose to deviate from them?

Ask about how long they’ll let you go before being induced, and under what conditions might they suggest induction.

I’d ask about their c-section rates.

Check on things like how long is the average hospital stay, what can you bring with you, how many people will be allowed in at a time to visit, do they have visiting hours, etc.

How did you go 24weeks without any OB appointments?

I would talk about getting an anatomy scan done and a gestational diabetes test done!

@ScottishMrs:  I guess, at this stage. I would talk about your ideal birth plan, what the hospital will do to accomodate that birth plan, and what options they have available for reducing pain as well as what options were available if a med-free birth was not possible.

You may also want to add a question about getting the flu shot.  My doctor told me I will have the option to get one at my next appointment I think, or perhaps the one after that and they can do it from their office if I want or I can go somewhere else.

DH and I are planning a babymoon so I also asked my doc his recommended cutoff date for traveling while pregnant.

I asked him for some pediatrician recommendations as well.  Not sure how they handle that in CA but may be worth asking?

@ScottishMrs:  I googled things to ask an OB/midwife. There so many helpful lists about what to do and that’s what I’m planning to take with me on my first appointment.
