cute!
Our puppy stopped growing about 1 year. You could try feeding him a bit more also. Our puppy wasnt growing at all when she was at the breeders but we switched to a better food and fed her more and she started gaining weight pretty quickly.
Our puppy was 4 lbs when we got her and I got XS clothes at wal-mart that worked.
Our vet says that they'll double whatever size they were at 4 months. Meaning I'm gonna have a 20 pound weenie dog! Sweet little baby though!!
What a cutie! My dog is a baby when it comes to cold weather. I ordered her a coat on Etsy. Here is the seller I used: http://www.etsy.com/shop/tootlewear?ref=pr_shop_more
I got a puff jacket that is waterproof but fleece lined. She also customized it to fit my basset. I'd go the etsy route because I think sellers can size it for your dog :-)
Thanks for the advice bee's! We always have food and water available to him.. should we start feeding him on a schedule so he's hungerier at mealtime, myabe he'll eat more that way? I'm definately going to check out Etsy, I never thoguht of that!
@meant2B: His name is Davis :)
Cute story about the name... I am CRAZY allergic to everything, including dogs. Like ended up in the hospital allergic (pushing my limits to far, I love animals sooo much!) A few years ago, my best friend and MOH got an adorable pug (whom I am deathly allergic too, lol). She let me name her dog since she knew I could never have one. (His name is Pugsley! :D) Once I figured out that I wasn't overly allergic to Yorkies (no more so then the other daily allergens I come into contact with, which is controlled by ALOT of antihistamines) I had him within a week, and he now has MOH's last name as his name.
@mere23: I checked his vet record, and his weight when he got his last set of shots was 2 pounds 3 oz... So I guess he's topping out at 4 1/2 pounds. I LOVE weiner dogs <3 btw.
@phonatic: this is a great idea! I'll have to check out etsy myself for a coat for ours :)
All the more reason to put lots of cute little clothes on! :) What a cutie.
As far as weight, both of ours stopped growing at about 1 year, to maybe 1.5 years. Granted...mine are much larger. Lol.
I'd be very concerned if my puppy had not put on any weight in 6 weeks.
Honestly I would ask my vet. Small dogs can stop growing earlier than large dogs, but as it's been over a month I'd be checking with a professional.
Does he have adequate shelter outside? And I would have food available for him all the time. Puppies eat a lot. I've had dogs all my life and raised puppies, so that's what I would be doing.
What a cute little guy! I just had to comment and tell you that my sister has a pug and his name is also Pugsley! :) I'd second other posters recommendation about going to etsy. You'll find some fantastic stuff there!
He is very very cute! I have a yorkie. He is 5 lbs. My family keeps telling me that he is too small, but I think that is the largest he is going to get. He is 26 months old. He has been the same size for almost a year now. I leave food out for him all day. He eats when he gets ready.
I get his shirts, sweaters, and jackets from T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. However for Christmas, I got his outfit from Walmart. He wears an XS.
@BerryBerry: We leave his food out for him also, and refresh his water in the morning and around 4 pm. We dont have him outside very much, he hates to be outside if it's any colder than 4 degrees (celcius, we're in Canada). He's usually bundled inside my coat during his "walks". We have a really long appartment, so we play fetch for about an hour (or until stops fetching :P) daily for his excercise.
I called the vet, and she said according to his chart she doesn;t expect him to gain more than 1/2 from what he is now. She told me as long as he's not loosing any weight and eating to give it a few more weeks and see if he's just really slowed down as far as growing goes. I'm going to pick up a little food scale that i saw at walmart, goes up to 10 pounds so that should be ok for him :P
@babygirl0526: omg, the second pic slays me! Adorable! I love that he has a full name. Davis is: Davis Bradley Close <3 Nothing says 'fur-baby' like a first, middle and last name! lol
You can also get them these adorable little booties to keep their feet warm. My dog tolerated them, but he picked his feet up extra special and looked like he was prancing. It was sooooooooooo funny!
If it is really cold, maybe get one of those pee pads and put it down near where he goes outside so he doesn't have to go as far?
Cute!!! Old Navy used to have cheap dog clothes, but I doubt he'll get too much bigger. My dog is bigger, he reached his full size around 1.5 years, but continued to fill out and get a little more bulk for another year. They're like skinny awkward teenagers for a little while in there...
Most dogs stop growing between 1 yr to 2 years old. They often go through growth spurts so not gaining weight in 6 weeks would not be uncommon. The "double the weight at 2 months thing" isnt really scientific so I wouldnt count on him being that small, but im sure at any size youll love him just the same :)
My little guy was literally 2 lbs when he was 3 months old! Around the 6 month mark he probably doubled. With reaching full size I would say somewhere around 1.5-2 years. He just turned two and I can't imagine him getting ANY bigger. With that said, they told me he'd be between 6-9 lbs and the little sucker is easily 12-15 lbs! It's so hard to tell especially with a mixed breed, you just never know what genes they will take on. But your little pup is ADORABLE :) I guess just make sure she's eating regularly and I'm sure everything will be fine. I love doggy clothes, mine just wont tolerate it!
dogs that small are prone to hypoglycemia as well as diabetes. I would make sure the dog is not suffering from either first, and foremost. Make sure you are using a high quality food with no corn fillers.

Hey Bee's! I live in Canada, and my little guy really doesn't like going outside in the winter. He gets cold and cries. I have a few sweaters and pj's and such for him, but I find it really hard to find things in his size (he's about 4 pounds). Does anyone know a good site to find warm clothes for dogs? He's my first puppy and he's 7 months :)
As an aside, what age do dogs stop growing? I was told he would be between 8-10 pounds... but he hasn't gained any weight in the last 6 weeks. I promise were feeding and excercising him! lol
