After Saturday, I’ll for sure be a waiting bee! My SO mentioned he wanted to find out my exact ring size for our 3.5 year anniversary, and we’re going this Saturday! I’ve never tried on any rings, so we’re going together to see what I like.
Here’s my question: Since it’s the first time either of us have seriously looked at anything (not to mention actually going to a store), should we learn a little about rings? Is it better to not seem completely clueless, or are they used to walking people through it? I want us to have a good experience.

When SO and I went,I did a little research just because I didn’t want to be taken advantage of. Read up on the 4 Cs and learn about the different metals to figure out your priorities. Be open to trying on different styles to see what you like best once its on your hand. Have fun! It’s so exciting!

@FutureMrsBex: Thanks! I’m definitely open to trying different styles.

If I were you I would
1) Do a little research, but no need to knock yourself out at this point
2) Go to a store where they focus on education, so that they can help you out with the learning step. In my area, for example, there is a store called Spence Diamonds that really focuses on educating their clients.
3) Don’t plan to buy on your first visit. After you get a better sense of what you’re looking for will be a good time to do more reserach on your own.

@KtGa: Look up articles on things to look out for when ring shopping. Educate yourself first!

@cbgg: I’ll keep an eye out for places like that, thanks.
@tiff-tiff-tiff: I’ll look up articles when I get back from work today!
I know we won’t be buying anything yet, so I’ll have time to do more in-depth research. Thanks for confirming that I should go ahead and be informed!
