I think that a card at the first shower would be nice. You can save the "real gift" for the second shower.
I would give her something at both showers! A card at the first one (maybe with a candle?) and the better gift at the second one.
Whoops! I didn't give a gift to the women who hosted my showers!
The one who hosted my friends shower did a lousy job, and my husband and I ended up cooking. Do I still need to get her a gift?
I can still get a gift for my husband's cousin who hosted our shower. What's a good shower gift?
@eurekaanchovies: I just got my MIL a drink dispenser with a stand from pottery barn. It's something we've both talked about wanting, so I figure it's a gift she'll actually use. I think a hostess gift is really nice, even if it's small. Maybe a picture or a gift certificate to a restaurant she likes?

So I'll be having two baby showers two weeks apart. The first is small, about 14 people, and it's really just my friends. The second is family and will be much larger. Do you think I should give her a card thanking her for hosting the first and then give her a hostess gift at the second shower?
