so I've been trying to find a pair of maternity jeans that are both comfortable and will last me through the rest of my pregnancy. So far I've tried motherhood maternity, gap, and old navy and nothing seems to fit me right. I've had friends buy designer maternity jeans and they swear they're worth it, but for 200 bucks I'm not sure I can pull that trigger. Any thoughts or recommendations?

I got some at Kohls the other day and actually like them. I'm REALLY picky about jeans so that's kinda a big deal for me.

I MAY have to get a bigger pair by the end but I may not...

After $10 Kohls cash I had and a $5 giftcard they were only 25bucks

They ALWAYS have sales going on so even if they end up not being your favorite atleast they didn't cost an arm and a leg.

As for my thoughts on 200 maternity jeans... I just don't think I could ever do that. What if they end up not fitting the whole time?... and even if they do I just couldn't be content with the limited time of use I'd get out of them. lol

If you can afford it and you wear jeans a lot, then go for it.  But really, if they are only for weekends and such, you are going to wear them maybe for 3-4 months total.

Did you look online and see if there are any other options?  I would check ebay and amazon first.

I'm way too early to make a decision about this, but I'll probably spring for a pair at some point.  I might feel a little guilty doing it, but we are hoping for multiple children so hopefully will get good use out of them.  My sister didn't with her first pregnancy but did with her second and said it's worth it.

I'm not pregnant, but just speaking as someone who loves jeans and practically lives in them, I think it depends how much use you'll get out of them. If you wear jeans multiple times a week, then I think it's worth it to get a pair that you really like and feel good in. From what I"ve heard, toward the end of pregnancy, you're uncomfortable and generally feel kind of blah, so if there's an article of clothing you can wear that fits well and looks good, I would go for it. Plus, if you're planning on having other kids in the future, you can reuse them!

Lol, I wouldn't buy $200 jeans normally, so there's no way I'd buy them for pregnancy.  :)  But I'm cheap and don't care much about finding a good fit.  I'd say, if you can afford it, and you'd use them a lot, splurge!

NO way would I purchase a pair of jeans for that much/ maternity or not. That is stupid to pay that much for just a pair of jeans.  You can find maternity jeans pretty much anywhere.

I would check out a maternity consignment shop. There is one out here that carries used designer jeans for less.

If that's the only pair you buy and wear them with your next 3 kids. :)  That being said, if they were awesome, I'd probably really want to buy them lol.

I vote ebay!  If they are really worth it (I have no idea) I'm sure there are some on ebay and you don't have to pay retail price.

Or craigslist, or maternity consignment, good will, etc.

It was worth it to me to find a good fit and be comfortable so I bought one pair of Paige maternity jeans.  I'm willing to spend $ to feel good about how I look.  I figured if I was going to be uncomfortable because of the changes in my body, I might as well feel good about how I look.  I bought mine a bit earlier in my pregnancy though than I needed and used a Bella Band so I got more use out of them than some people might.

i found some jeans at macys (some off brand) that happened to fit me perectly -- and i'm super picky with my jeans. it took a lot of searching though...i just couldnt justify spending that much money on jeans i'd only wear a few months, even though i work in a casual office and wear them a lot out of the office too.

i second the ebay idea, though. you could try them on in the store and then save a few bucks ordering them on ebay. i hear 7 for all mankind maternity jeans are awesome.

I am not pregnant, but I already told my husband that the maternity Citizens were not negotiable.  For me, it is completely worth it (and I do hope to have multiple children).  Plus, I can always pass them on to a good friend or sell them when I am done.

I love designer jeans, so I say go for it!  Plus, you can always sell them on eBay later.

$200 for jeans seems just ridiculous to me. But, if that's something you can do then go for it.

$200 for regular jeans? ok fine.  But for maternity jeans that you can only wear a few months?  It's just not worth it for me.

I love designer jeans, my budget however does not.  Ebay all the way.

I've also tried Gap, Motherhood, and Old Navy.  While they're comfy they make me feel frumpy and they continually slide down, designer brands that I've tried do not do that :)

I bought a pair of Citizens with a low/under belly panel and I'm still wearing them (37w3d) I got them for $35 on Ebay

My 2nd favorite are Paige Premium, love them but barely still wearing them, the low panel digs in when I sit down.  I paid $30 on Ebay for them.

    I also have a pair of 7's but I don't like them, I don't like them pre-pregnancy either.

I really wanted True Religions but I didn't want to pay more than $50 and they don't sell for less than $80 on Ebay.

I was still wearing my low rise Hudson's until last weekend when hubs pointed out the back pocket is separating, thanks babe for letting me know after we got home from shopping all day ;)

    *edited to add*

Also when they say go up 1 size, if you want them to fit all throughout I would go up 2 sizes.  I normally wear a 24/25 and my maternity jeans are 27 and 28.  I have gained about 25lbs...

Before I got pregnant with my son I would never have even thought about buying designer jeans just to wear for a few months. Then once you realize how crappy all the other jeans are and how terrible you feel about yourself, you change your mind. :) Go for it!

I always liked jeans that were fitted, but flared (NO skinny jeans here), and I did find some at Motherhood Maternity, but I really had to look and try them on.  Kohl's also has maternity clothes that fit well, and they're made by Motherhood, so they have the awesome "secret fit" belly.

But, to answer your original question - no, I wouldn't spend $200 on a pair of jeans that you'll wear for only about 1/2 of your pregnancy.

I vote no; I sprung $50 for a discounted designer pair and never got to wear them once!  I was in and out of the size in weeks.  Ended up living in skirts since the waistband could sit under my belly, and being constricted by a waistband ended up making me feel nauseous.  The old navy ones I had weren't flattering, exactly, but they worked.

I'm not pg, but I will absolutely be forking out the dough for designer jeans.  I love my True Religions, and even when I have a bad-body-image-day, those jeans make me look great:)  They are worth it.  I feel the same way about Juicy Couture jogging suits.  I live in those, they're comfy, and very very flattering, and when I am pg I'll have those too!  Maybe just a navy one and a black one or something, but I think it's totally worth it to have maternity clothes that make you look and feel good.

These are the ones I'm already eyeing...All I need is a BFP!  The back pockets are so flattering...Even if my butt gets large and in charge, hopefully these will camouflage it!

@BabyBoecksMom: I hate skinny jeans on me! haha. I like flare!

I found a pair at Old Navy after a lot of looking, but I have yet to find a second pair. I'm thinking I will wait until a little later on in pregnancy.

I never had to buy pregnancy jeans with I was Pregnant with my son.  I just wore my "fat" jeans that were baggy on me before I got pregnant.  Another tip is to take a hair tie  loop it in and out of the hole onto the button to help you wear your normal jeans longer.  it totally works.

Are you a member on any of the flash sale sites like Gilt Groupe, Rue La La or ideeli? I just bought a pair of Rock & Republic maternity jeans on Gilt for $80 when they are normally over $250. I LOVE them! So comfortable, can't even tell they are maternity jeans, great quality and they seem like they will last til my due date in December. I never used to pay over $50 for a pair of jeans, but my husband (of all people!) has converted me into a designer jean fan because the quality is so much better (most of the time). However, I still love a great deal so that is where the flash sale sites help me out!

i went to a store called burkes when i was pregnant and fell in love with these amazing jeans that still fit me post baby. they were only $15 and i wore them whenever we'd go out to dinner and parties. i would say buy them if you think they will still fit after and for future pregnancies have one good pair of really nice jeans! :)

@Zuzu2and11:  Good point!  Or shopittome...My DH is a jeans snob too!  He will only wear 7 For all mankind!  He has more than I do!  And we have both definitely gotten great deals on those discount sites.  I need to try to R&R - they look so cute on everyone!

I would definitely suggest trying on EVERYTHING -

I bought a pair of 7 for all Mankind jeans, they are so flattering, my legs and bum look so good in them, but the waistband is sooo tight and stiff that I couldn't handle it anymore and cut the waistband out one day. A lot of good that did me, now they're just about unwearable without a belly band to keep them up, lol.. but I just couldn't take it.

I did find a pair of Gap jeans that were flattering and the waistband is nice and soft. (I think it was the Sexy Boot Cut?) I wear them all the time. (I'm 28 weeks)

I wish I had waited and tried on a lot more than just jumping at the first pair that made my butt look great. Oh well, live & learn! :)

I will definitely be "investing" in a pair of designer maternity jeans once I'm PG. I plan on having multiple children so I'm sure I"ll get a lot of wear out of them. I also think it's important to feel good about your body when you're pregnant and I think it's worth it to spend extra to feel that way as long as you can afford it!

    @jholler25:Those are SO cute.

I wear designer jeans now, so I'll spluge when I get pregnant.

I have a really small waist, but large hips and cheaper jeans do not fit right (big gaps in the waist area.) I find that Citizens, Paige, and Seven fit me the best, so I'll probably get Citizen maternity jeans.

I wouldn't, but that's just b/c I'm cheap. But really, when you're preggo, it's hard on the self esteem. So if buying a nice pair of jeans helps you to feel hot, go for it!

if you can afford it, normally buy designer jeans &plan on having more than one kid? then sure why not.

if you're handy you could try making your own maternity jeans too.

No.  I love my clothes to fit but my prego wardrobe is going to be dresses and yoga pants.  Now I'll spend $80 on some Lululemon pants but I won't do the same for jeans.   I've had a hard time in the last 5 yrs finding some that fit and are age appropiate. LOL

I love 7 for all Mankind jeans!! I definitely plan to buy at least one good pair of maternity jeans since I will be pregnant all winter. Add in a couple of  maternity tops and a pair of black pants and I should be set. I will also wear sundresses once spring arrives. I wear scrubs to work so I should be able to get away with the ones I already have.
