I can't believe there's less than a month left of 2010...time FLIES!
It's been a great year for many of us, I know, so I thought we might all pause for a moment of gratitude and share the best thing that happened to us this year.
As for me...I met someone! So, WB's official bachelorette is a little bit closer to maybe someday NOT being a bachelorette anymore!
We're coming up on four months of dating and its going really well.
How about you? What was THE best thing that happened to you in 2010?
I reconnected with the love of my life and he proposed!
My daughter got moved to gifted classes and will test early into kindergarten.
My mom moved closer to me.
I reconnected with a dear friend.
I survived a sudden downsize at my job.
I got engaged to the love of my life!! I'm trying to make sure I appreciate every moment of this special time.
I married the love of my life. I've never experienced happiness or joy as I had on our wedding day. So far, nothing can top it.

I got married on August 21st!!! (by far the best thing)
I became an aunt in May!!
I got promoted to SVP at my company!!
oooh - i love this! well, i'm going out on a limb here and saying.. GETTING ENGAGED! was the best thing that happened to me this year. but thank you for asking... it gave me a reason to pause and remember the greatness of the year!
congrats on your new beau!
Graduated from college (not the same as "college" in the states)
Got into University.
No one died.
&& finally realized we COULD make a wedding work with the financial situation we have.
The best thing that happen to me this year was hands down when I got married this past Monday! We're still having our full celebration in April but we legally tied the knot on my husband's birthday, Nov. 29. He came home from Iraq on the 23rd and we marched down to the JPs office 6 days later. Lol
I got out of my terrible job and into one I don't mind as much.
I got a beautiful ring and proposal from my love :)
I changed jobs and finally took the GMATs! (and did well)
The best thing that happened to me this year was getting engaged!
I hate to brag but this year was extra awesome. I left my crappy clothing store job for one that's related to my college major and pays well, and I bought my first home with my man :) So even if we hadn't gotten engaged this year would have been great but getting to plan my wedding makes it even better!
@Cheeks11: Congratulations!
I got married AND my husband got through US immigrations and has his temp green card!!! WOOOOHOOO!!
This year has been a ride! There has been a lot of ups and downs with the health of my little sister. Good thing that happened was certainly the proposal :)
My then-FI came home safe and sound after 5 months in Africa (Feb)
We had a wonderful wedding with our friends and family - TWICE (April and April)
We had an amazing two week honeymoon in Barbados and the Grenadines (April/May)
We got our little snowpuppy (got him in July and have only discovered this week that he's a snow addict - he cannot get enough!) (July)
We found out I am pregnant. (October)
And then we found out we're expecting twins!!! (November)
girl! brag on!!
it's awesome to be able to love the greatness while it's happening. sticks with you then when things may not be.
not to be all polyanna or anything..
I quit my job and got a new fantastic one.
On the very last day of the year at 7:30pm, I get to marry my best friend!
Best Thing?!
(Now) FI popping the question on July 20th, which we didnt realize was my mother's birthday, my mom's mom passed away when I was very young and I didnt have much time with her! So thats was super sentimental and meaningful! And booking our venue/date!
Thank you for starting this thread!
2010 has been very good to me. In March, I received a great promotion at work. In May, I got engaged to my best friend and the only person I can imagine spending the rest of my life with. In September, my older sister gave birth to the cutest little baby girl and I became an auntie for the first time!
Through the year, I've been able to become closer with the friends that mean the most to me and have been able to distance myself from others who weren't the best fit. It's been a great year for personal growth and learning new things. I can only hope that 2011 can come close to 2010!
So much has happened this year!
FI moved here to be with me, no more LDR!
I got called to the bar.
FI and I bought an awesome apartment together.
We got engaged!
And we're getting married in less than a week!
At midnight on Dec 31, 2009, I remember thinking to myself, "It's going to be a huge year... it's make or break for us," and being so scared and excited at once. I'm so thankful that it has turned out so wonderfully. :)
Finally tied the knot in April after having to postpone our wedding for a whiiiiile (husband was laid off for 10 months!).
Husband got the job of his dreams.
Two amazing honeymoons...first one right after our wedding in April. We went snowboarding in Whistler and spent some time in Vancouver.
And then he decided to take me on a 2nd honeymoon to Maui in Sept. It has been an amazing year!!
We're setting off tomorrow for our first snowboarding trip of the season. We plan to go A LOT this season because after this one, we're gonna start trying for babies. :)
Definitely moving in with FI and getting engaged.
When I think about it, honestly a lot of CRAP has happend the past year, and while I do have down days, FI has helped me through it all and it just doesn't seem so bad!
my engagement of course! there were other memorable moment but that was by far the best of 2010...cant wait for 2011!
I left my job and started my own company. I'm no longer an attorney!!! :D
I work for myself and teach yoga full time. Something I only ever dreamed of doing.
Best of all, I moved in with and got engaged to the man of my dreams!!
@stephinPA: Beautiful pic!!! I love your flowers!
Best thing that happened this year, probably our trip to Disney World lol!
@Future Mrs. Martin: I think you should post a pic in every thread :D I am sooo not a pink person, but I LOVE your pics!
FI and I moved back to our hometown- I have not lived here in 8 years. The 30 hour drive was awful but it was so worth it to be near family again.
Became a homeowner :)
Got married!
Went to Europe for the first time on our honeymoon.
Got knocked up (due in July 2011)!
We survived deployment #2. It was a rough one but we came out on top and with a stronger relationship.
Great thread!
Got engaged - probably the highlight!
FI and I both got new, great jobs in my homestate
which means we moved closer to my family, yey!
we got a great new apartment
This year has been a good one with many surprises good and bad. The BEST thing to happen to me this year is finding out I am expecting a little one! I have been on cloud 9 since I found out (except during times of morning sickness LOL).
I hope everyone had a wonderful year and have atleast one amazing thing happen to them during the year! Here's to hoping for another blessed year in 2011!
We fostered really young little puppies, I was a little worried about taking in little 6 week old things that really should still be with their momma but for various reasons couldn't be. And that they'd poop and pee a lot more in the house than the older dogs but I loved it and them and seeing these little things have such big individual personalities so early on.
We had a wonderful vacation to go overseas to a family members wedding and go exploring.
And apparently we had a lot of fun there because a few weeks later we found out we're expecting our first child.
My husband graduated from grad school with his masters degree! My younger brother got engaged and my nephew was born! Yay!
I graduated from Graduate school...
moved to the same city as my now husband....
Got an amazing new job that I love...
Got married...
Had an amazing honeymoon...
Now we are crossing our fingers to add pregnancy to the list....
Its been an amazing year!
My furbaby got hurt very badly and has now recovered almost fully! She'll never be the same and has to take daily meds, but she's come so far in the past several months. I am SO thankful!
@gocubbies: Aww. I'm glad to hear she's on the recovery road.
@Belle2Be: Thank you! I loved my flowers!!!!
It's been a good year!
