Since we don't have a month board yet, I thought a post might be fun!
Have you worked on anything yet? Booked anyone? We're booking our venue soon since we adore it and it books up about 1 1/2 years early - plus we're locking in this year's rates!
How's everyone dealing with the long wait until 2012?
I've done nothing. NOTHING. lol. First we need to plan a cultural engagement party with both of our families. I am furiously looking at photographers though.
YAY! more 2012 brides!
So far I have booked the church and started gathering all of my invitation stuff. I'm DIYing my invites, so when I get coupons for Archiver's I get a thing or two (and saving a butt load of cash!). We have looked at 3 reception locations as well.
Right now we are planning our engagement party which is in early August. I don't know how I'm going to wait so long!
On a side note, if one more person says to me "2012?! Well at least you have lots of time to plan!" one more time, I'm going to scream!
@ILuvDance17: Haha, I know how you feel, I swear, 2 years isn't a long time to plan considering some places fill up that far in advance!!! I just smile, nod, and think if you only knew how much work planning a wedding (especially with so many diy aspects) was you'd change your tune!!
We are planning our engagement party for 3 weeks from now :)
Got engagement pictures done.
We are going to visit some venues next week.
Oh, and we bought our wedding bands (had to take advantage of our "merry money" from JBR!!!)
Other than that...just bookmarking all the amazing ideas that other bees have had.
I'm getting so impatient waiting until 2012- ack! I have so many ideas buzzing around in my head about what I'd like to do. It gets a little hard sometimes, but I know it'll be worth it. :)
I have all my vendors/plans picked out...just not booked yet! Yikes! Y'all are making me nervous! I should probably book the venue soon, because it's in Atlanta, and it'd prob book faster than some place here in Alabama. But...what do I do about numbers? Like I dunno how many will for sure come because it's out of town, and sadly...it's Football season. (And yes, in the South...people will seriously ditch out on weddings to watch a game) :| seriously...
you know what's funny? we're not even engaged yet (been dating for 8 years) but he wants to go ahead and book the venue and all. i mean neither of us have any doubts about getting engaged/married...just waiting on a ring! lol.
anyway...what ab yall? tell me all ab your plans and yourself! :)
My master plan is to have the church decorated in white and ivory and the reception colors will be dark purple, gold, and ivory. I want the BMs to wear dark purple dresses and carry white flowers. I'm thinking about having all of the reception flowers be fall colors...haven't decided on that yet.
that would be pretty! i like those colors
on a side note- do you dance? i grew up dancing and danced for 12 years. :) saw your pointe shoes in your pic and just thought i'd ask :)
Yep! I danced for about 20 years. I danced at a studio for 18 years then danced on my college dance team for 2 years. Since I just graduated I guess I'm a retired dancer!
We are planning a fall wedding with an outdoor ceremony and an indoor/perhaps tent reception. We have narrowed down our venues to either rustic barns, wineries, or scenic overlooks. We have not decided on our colors yet but I did buy my dress. Its monique lhuillier scarlet. I didn't plan on buying the dress yet but since it is an older dress I didn't want to take the chance that it would be discontinued!
Any of you 2012 brides buy or try on dresses yet??
Bad lighting, and too big of dress, but you get the idea...this is the first time posting pictures of the dress ahhh such a weird feeling!!!!
I LOVE the back of the dress!! I want to go dress shopping, but I'm afraid I will get weird looks when they ask when the wedding is!
@ILuvDance17:Thank you!...umm...we are DATE TWINS!!!! I didn't really receive any dirty looks, after I explained that we are saving up for our wedding so that we can do it right (not that there is a wrong way to do a wedding), most people were really supportive.
hmm...Maybe I'll go dress shopping this summer then!
YAY for date twins!
@ILuvDance17: I think you should go try on some dresses...if for no other reason than to look around! It is so much fun!
@lilyfaith: I'm in Chicago too. We're planning on 2012, not officially engaged yet though, so I haven't started looking or booking anything. Soon I hope. Can I ask what venue you plan on booking?
aww so cool about dancing for that long! congratulations on your graduation too!
omg!!! that dress is gorgeous on you! makes me want to go try some on too! ;)
Whoo hoo, the 2012 boards just got posted, but lovin' this thread so I'm going to reply anyway:
@Gerbera: we were actually always 2012! I will admit to planning crazy early and doing cake trials and whatnot, so maybe that's what threw you off? I definitely go through periods where I don't think about the wedding at all, and periods where I plan. It helps take the stress off, since our date is soon after college graduation.
@Aubergold: photographers were one of the first things I looked at, too. In fact, I looked at photogs before we were engaged, because I just adore photography.
@ILuvDance17: I feel you on that. It drives me crazy, too, but at least it means no one criticizing wedding choices too much yet!
@mannellal: that looks gorgeous! I love the dramatic back. I also have my dress - I bought it pre-owned and was just too in love to pass it up. I haven't regretted it for a second!

@flutterbi: yay for another Chicago bride! We're booking Salvage One. We love it and honestly want to CAP our guest list. We aren't planning a big wedding but our parents sure want to add everyone we went preschool with and their sisters. It's gorgeous, I highly recommend it so far!
Thank you! I love my dress too and haven't regretted getting it so early. My back is my favorite part but in person the front is much more beautiful because the lace is so pretty but on my crappy camera +bad lighting you can hardly tell.
@lilyfaith:I love the dress! Does the sash come with it?
@mannellal: well, bad lighting or not, it looks beautiful! I love dramatic dresses like that. The sash did come with the dress! It's really pretty although I haven't gotten to try them on together yet, because I moved the dress over to our apartment, but the sash got left at my parents'.
I'm not looking for shoes yet (at least not openly) but I'm thinking a light gold would be gorgeous.
We also narrowed our venue choice down because of it, which has actually saved us a lot of money! It cut out the "black tie" type of places.
@mannellal: Both your dresses are so so beautiful! I can't wait to go dress shopping too! :)
I'm a 2012 bride! We know our colors, overall theme/decor, and have narrowed down the venue choices to three. I haven't tried on gowns yet and nothing's booked, but we're getting there!
I get the occasional "wow that's a long way off!" comments, but usually they relax when I remind them our date is only a little over a year and a half away.
Hi everyone,
We got engaged in Janurary but haven't done any real planning. I have an idea on which colors I want to use, but it may change depending on the venue we find. Too many things are up in the air to start planning. I did start making paper cranes, but I might stop if it doesn't go with the theme/venue we choose. We're not sure about our budget and there are some family things that might conflict with the dates we're considering. It has to happen in May or June of 2012 because I graduate from med school May 4th, 2012 and I'll start residency on July 1st. We'll also need to move within those 2 months. I may even try to make it happen the same weekend I graduate, that way my family won't have to travel twice. I love the idea of having a Cinco de Mayo wedding.
Our date might move around a little between May and July...
In 3 weeks we are looking at our top 3 venues and if we are 100% sure about them then we are booking. One of the venues is a caterer (both on and off site) that is at the top of our list so we may be knocking that off the list as well.
Colors have been determined, we have pretty much designed our invites but those won't be made until sometime after March 2011 (don't want brittle paper and FSIL will likely be married in March 2011, FMIL is the master of invites).
My mom and I are starting the dress design process in 3 months for me.
Inspiration Book has been put together, timeline of projects has been made. DIY projects have been identified...
Hi everyone! 2012 bride here! I have some giant bookmark folders with all sorts of links. I love Indian culture and also bright colors, so I'm thinking of doing purple and orange together. I've seen some fabulous and cheap invitations from the Michael's BRIDES line. I have my dress narrowed down to two - they are both gorgeous. I also have researched some venues and have my heart set on one, as well as a caterer.
Nothing has been bought yet. We're having an Engagement Party next month, so I probably should be concentrating on that. It'll be pretty informal, but I'm looking forward to it.
@ashpash: oh cool! we are trying to do it the same weekend that FI graduates from medical school as well so people dont have to travel twice. The whole thing about rolling it up into his grad weekend is that maybe both events wont be as special? are you afraid of that? Also he graduates on a friday evening so we wouldn't be able to have a friday night rehearsal dinner. I feel kind of bad asking people to come Thursday - Sunday. It will be so incredibly hectic. Any thoughts guys?
I am a February 2012 bride! We haven't booked anything yet. I want to go look at reception venues but I recently had foot surgery so I've been stuck on the couch for the past month. As soon as I'm allowed to walk, we're going to start looking. Being stuck on the couch has had its advantages though. I've been getting so many ideas for the wedding. I bought my garter and the flowers for my bouquet, bridesmaids, mothers/grandmothers, FI, groomsmen, etc. for under $60 at Michaels (everything was 50% off! They are super pretty - pale pink and champagne roses.
@mannellal: I loveee your dress. You look so pretty in it! The lace is so classy!
@kms31690: Thank you! I love your colors...we are having a really hard time picking colors because of the time of year. To me, fall wedding screams warm colors but all the color combinations that I show my fiance, he turns down. He wants blue. I am having a hard time finding a way to incorporate blue that wasn't the blue velvet mess that was my aunt's wedding (I was the flower girl...ok so I was 5, those bridesmaids dresses still give me chills) or a light blue summery feel...
@RayRayFurious: We are having our engagement party next month too! It is kinda informal but I am still really excited to get the two families together!
Thank you guys again for the complements! I am so excited to get it in (not until November !!)
@lillyfaith: I love that dress and love the sash even more! I have one like that for my engagement party dress!
@mannellal: Blue could be pretty in the fall, very unexpected! Maybe a light blue with accents of fall colors?
I'm so excited!....I am meeting with a photographer on Monday to set up engagement pictures! I've known the photog for years, so I know he will be doing all of our pictures. We will be doing our engagement pictures this fall when its not so ungodly hot!
@ILuvDance17:Where did you get your engagement party dress? I am having a hard time finding something that is not too casual but not too formal.
I found mine at The Limited. Its a straples black dress that hits at my knees and it has a white sash/belt with 4 white flowers in the center. I can post a pic in a few minutes! I LOVE it!
That is so cute and looks great on you! Are you having your engagement party at a friend's , parent's, your house? Are you going to a restaurant? We are having ours at my mother's house.
Thank you! I love it!
We are having ours at the church where we will get married! Sounds strange, but the "undercroft" is all swanky. We thought it'd be nice to introduce everybody to the place where we will get married! An added bonus is the parish picnic is the same night as our party, so we will head over there as an after party!
I know! My mom thought of doing it there. Even better is, I don't have to prep the house for entertaining people!
You are so lucky! We have been putting so much work into the backyard. We have a gorgeous backyard so I am really lucky but it is alot of upkeep. Sorry lilyfaith for hyjacking your board!
I'm sure your party will be FABULOUS! Can I just admit...We are really hoping that somebody asks where we are registered. We are dying to register and that would give us an excuse to do it!
