I am actually excited about this..... Every time someone says to me "when are you getting married" and I say 7-7-12, you would have thought I said in the year 2020 or something.... Now I can say "next summer or next July" ;) I cannot BELIEVE how fast time is flying....sheesh! Happy planning!!!!

I agree! It sounds so much closer! I feel like I get strange looks when I would say June 2012 in 2010...like, why aren't we bumping it up sooner? It has also added in a little bit of extra panic...I feel like I am behind on things, when really, I'm not!
Yes! I've been engaged almost an entire year, boy time flies--hopefully it'll continue to do so!

I know exactly what you mean trulyblessed:, everytime someone would ask when we are thinking of getting married and we tell them "2012" I always feel the need to explain "we are buying a house in 2011 so the wedding is pushed back to 2012" because we get the raised-eyebrow questioning look O_o when people hear "2012." Now we can just tell them "next year"!! ^_^
We just got engaged December 5th, and people were giving us the side-eye about 2012. I am freaked out that it seems closer now.
Woo!! That's the first thing I thought about at midnight. I turned to FI and said "We're getting married next year!!" We're getting close girls!!
@BayStateBride: I know!!! 2012 has raised a lot of eyebrows and quite a few people have asked why we're waiting so long (most very innocently and without any malice :) ).
But yay! We're getting married next summer :)
@BayStateBride: ME too!!! We are moving into our house this summer so we didnt want to get the house and plan a wedding at the same time and like you, I did feel the need to explain BUT NOW, lol.... I can say "oh, next summer" with all smiles and grins ;)
@ILuvDance17: I said the same thing right after the kiss ;) He just smiled at me and said "I know".... it is starting to feel very real to me now...
I know finally! I know about 5-6 people, maybe more who got engaged after me who are getting married before me! We are having a longer engagement because I'm in school (I finish in December). I just wish his parents would show some interest, I guess we have no drama going on in our lives. We have only a year and 13 days!
@keepsmiling19: I feel the same way!! All of a sudden I feel like I have SOOO much to do and no time to do it. I just need to remember that I still have 630 days left!!

I feel like we've been engaged forever! We got engaged in the spring of 2009 and our 8 year anniversary is today, actually! We are waiting to get married until we have both graduated from grad school - I graduate this spring, but he won't until the spring of 2012 - and every time someone asks when we're getting married and we tell them 2012, we always get this crazy eyed look. No one understands why we would wait that long. Meh.
I'm so excited now! It really does feel like reality is setting in and now I can't wait until the next time someone asks when we're getting hitched! Weee, let the "official" planning begin :)
YAY I am so excited for all of you! FI and I got engaged beginning of september 09 and set a date for April 5 2011 the very next week. I was so excited when it finally hit 2010 so I could say 'next year'!
I've been telling FI all day that we're getting married next year! It's in January, so it really isn't far at all! He asked if we can just move it up a month to December so he can say this year; he thinks that sounds even closer.
Yeah! I know!! I got two facebook messages from my besties/BM's who both informed me that my wedding is just next year!! Yeah, getting more excited!
I will say that this site has helped me a lot. To actually chat with people who are in the same boat as me and can share the excitement!!!!!!!!!! I canNOT wait until the day that I marry my best friend but I am enjoying the planning process soooo much and the FI is actually way more involved than I thought the "guy" would be ;)

the worst part for me is that no one can understand why i'm planning this early. we've already had our date taken at our first choice reception site and almost at the church. but according to my future FIL, we need to calm down and take it easy because the wedding is sooo far away. why rush things? grrrrrr!
YAY!!! This is so exciting!! omg I'm so happy i'm not alone with the weird looks of a 2 year engagment! what the hell is wrong with these people! unelss you have a chunk of cash to hand over for a wedding i need to SAVE SAVE SAVE!! And I already have 8 weddings to attend before my own! so i think 2011 is kinda booked :)

Woohoo! It's funny, FH brought this up before I even thought of it. On New Year's Eve he kept saying "tomorrow we can say we're getting married next year!"
I graduate from grad school and get married next spring! Yay! So excited.
I can't wait to say 'next spring' rather than 'March of 2012'...I hadn't even thought of that yesterday! Those O_o looks when you say 2012 were getting rather old :-)
2012 Brides:
I wrote this post almost FIVE months ago (January 1, 2011).... It is almost June 1, 2011.... WHERE IS THE TIME GOING???? LOL!!! This just means that our wedding dates are getting closer and closer.....yayyyyy!

Ahhh! It makes my tummy flip with excitement when I think about it. :)
Maybe a little bit of the flipping is from nervousness too (we still don't have anything really planned)!
@LindsayB: I understand what you mean, lol....I been starting my planning though... shoot by the time next January get here, I wont have anything left to do but send out the invites (which are done by the way, lol) .....
@peacockchris: lol I know right... when I first told people, they were like "but that's 22 months away???". I was thinking...thanks for counting the months for me, when you put it like that, it does seem to be YEARS away, lol..... NOW, it's a little under 12 months...WHERE IS THE TIME GOING!!! LOL
My grandfather actually got mad at me! They got married when they were nineteen within months of being engaged. I guess I was expected to have a shotgun wedding too...
Yay I know! I just had this discussion with my FI last night... it's going by quick!
I tell people next August, but its still 14 months away......seems forever
