Hello y Hola!  I am in the midst of planning my July 2012 wedding in Puerto Rico.  I think we have narrowed down the reception site and photographer.  I would love to hear from other Puerto Rico brides past or future to share ideas, experiences, suggestions, etc.

Hope this is hopeful to other Puerto Rican brides!

Hola chica! Where at in Puerto Rico are you getting married at? I am a May 2012 bride =) We're going to get married on the Island Vieques in Puerto Rico and I am so excited. We're doing a simple beach ceremony and a dinner reception because of the small number of guests. I still need to find a photographer though!

Good to meet another future Puerto Rico bride!

Hola Kelly!  We are looking at the Trump Golf Course/Club in Rio Grande.  How about you?  I found a photographer I really love and already placed a deposit to secure the date.  I can give you his info if you are still looking.  What else have you checked off your list?  Are you from Puerto Rico?  This is exciting!  Jan

Nope I'm not from Puerto Rico..I'm from Kentucky! hah..My fiance and 7 of our close friends took a week long camping trip to Culebra Island in Puerto Rico and that is where we got engaged! We were thinking of a beach wedding and decided what better of a place than Puerto Rico! We're going to Vieques Island..I am so excited too!

We're doing a really small beach wedding..maybe just 15-25 people. We have our officiant booked and our place for the reception but that is about it. I need a photographer! I am so excited hahah I wish it was sooner! but way to much planning to do!

What is the photographers name? I'll have to check and see if he will do photographeron Vieques.

Are you having a big wedding and are you from Puerto Rico?

    Congrats!

    Kelly

Hola chicas! I'm a puertorican bride and very happy to hear you are going to marry in my beautiful island.  I'm not having a beach wedding...because we're always at  beach, ha, ha...There is a website that maybe can help you: www.bodaclickpr.com

Here you will find many puertorican vendors.  My photographer is Angel Rojas he won the brides choice award 2011.  He took my girlfriend wedding photos and everybody loves it.  We're doing our engagement photo session next week, so will tell you how the experience was.  His website is www.angelrojas.com so you can take a look.

@kellyj23: Hey there. It is so cool you are coming from Kentucky!  I have never been to Culebra Island but I did fall in love with Icacos island (next door I believe.)  :)  The photographer I am using actually just took pics at a wedding in Vieques.  His name is Rafael Sotomayor www.rafaelsotomayor.com  he also has a facebook page.  He is the only confirmed thing to date. :)  I wish we were having a small wedding.  All my fiance's family lives in PR so his original list of 12 has grown to about 70, and all my fam is in FL so they will be flying down too, we actually live in NJ at the time altough I am from Miami, FL and he was born and raised in PR.  So budget is a little out of control at this point.  Keep me posted on your progress!

    Congrats to you too!

    @BrideJan:

Hey I have been neglecting wedding bee and just saw your post! Thanks for the tip on the photographer! I will definitely look into him. Yeah we decided on a small wedding because I just didn't want to deal with everyone if you want to know the truth of it haha but it is getting bigger than I even wanted..we're up to around 20ish people now. We should of just eloped :p So much cheaper!

I love Puerto Rico so much..I cannot wait to go back. I keep telling my FI that I don't know if I am more excited for the wedding or the vacation :p

Kentucky is not so bad..don't listen to what other people say! haha It is a very pretty state..but we figured if we went a little farther to get married then more people wouldn't come. Is that terrible? lol

Anyways thanks again for the photographer reference! Congrats again and definitely keep me posted on your wedding too! Looks like we're just getting married 2 months apart! Have you got your dress yet?

..boring day at work makes a forum post long..

@BrideJan: Our engagement photo session was yesterday...I'm SUPER EXCITED!! Was amazing...We took many photos, just walking around and having fun being ourselves...the photographer took some photos in the front of "Morro" when the sun was laying down...very dramatic! I can't wait to have it...I will post some when this happens ; )  We are having a very intimate wedding with close family and friends...the ceremony will be in a traditional historic church (I wanted to have my own royal wedding like Kate, LOL) and the reception in a salon of a convention center both in Mayaguez (we're from the west of the island).  Hope your plan are going good!! : ))

    Hello y Hola!

The W is brand new, I think one or two years max.  It is supposed to be very beautiful.  I have never been there but we were looking at that as a possibility when we first started looking. Good luck and let us know how it goes. :)

Hey ladies! I'm a fellow 'Rican that just got married there a little over a month ago. We got married at the Escambron Beach Club in the capital. If you're looking for delicious cupcakes or a fantastic wedding coordinator, let me know. I also know of a great restaurant in Vieques were you could hold a rehearsal dinner/small reception. I especially loved my coordinators/decorators. If you want to see pics of the place/the decorations or want references, send me a PM and I'll send you a link to some pictures and give you any info you need!

@pert86: I sure am:) Mine is going to be an intimate wedding for November 2011. Should be booking date by this week. So far so good. It looks like a beautiful venue and I like the isolation feel it gives. They have been pretty responsive getting back to me...and being far away thats important. I was previously considering the St. Regis Bahia Beach but one week later, no one has called me back and the reviews on their service aren't great.  Ceremony at whisper cove and romantic dinner on the beach (paradise edge). Price is reasonable too but It'll be just my fiance and I...then a party when we return.

    @Mz.MM:

I originally fell in love with a satin dress (Adorae by Maggie) but I changed it to something a little lighter because I was also concerned about the weather and wanted something less heavy.

@sweetdee124: OMG Sweet.. that is the SAME dress Ive been going back n forth on.. LOLOLOL... I was talking about it with my fiance and I think I am just going to bite the bullet and purchase it and purchase an alternate lighter dress for the "JUST IN CASE" lolol..

What type of material did you end up getting??? Did you stick with a Maggie dress???

@ Mz.MM thats hilarious! Yes the Adorae was the first dress I tried on and I fell in love :( But at that point I wasn't thinking of a DW. After I changed to PR I thought it was too heavy for the beach. Trust me it wasn't an easy decision. I'm even going back to the store to try it on one last time tomorrow before I say goodbye for good lol. I ended up puttiing $ down on Mikaella 1551. You can look it up and see what it looks like. It wasn't as heavy and the material was chiffon I think....

peacockchris    March 17, 2012   Live in Dallas, TX, wedding in Puerto Rico, where I am from

Hi everybody! I am Puerto Rican and planning my wedding for March 2012. It's been a little hard for me since I am working in Dallas, TX, so everything is being done from a distance. However I have my awesome Mother and sisters down there helping me a lot as well as my wedding planner.  Ceremony and reception will be at the Escambron Beach Club. Planning is well underway (I am ahead of my checklist lol)

I have tons of vendor contacts that I can share. Send me a private message if you need any.

@pert86 I just went to an event at the W Vieques two weeks ago, it is very beautiful, a lot og greenery and very sort of quite I would say. I actually got to see a wedding taking place in the Cliff where they do the ceremony and it was breathtaking! I actually got a card from the planner their, her name is Rebecca and the photographer that was shooting. I haven't yet contacted them but if you need info let me know. What I am not sure is the area for weddings, if their is anything bigger for the reception than what I saw, I am planning a bigger wedding so that's why I've been looking for a bigger space.

Hey guys! I'm from Puerto Rico and got married just a month ago. My wedding took place in the west part of the is land. I'd like to share with you guys the names of some winderfull vendors.

    1. For photography the great Jose del Valle is extremely talented, has great deals and is a great person as well: http://www.josedelvallephotographer.com/index2.php?v=v1

    2. For catering Chef Benmar Santos gives and excellent service for great prices. Her food is to die for and is a delight to work with: http://www.cateringparabodas.com/

    3. For decoration I did not work with Inventos by Mima, but have only seen awesome things from them: http://www.inventosbymima.com/

Another good thing about a wedding in this island is that the prices are really low when compared to some of the states. It is a win in every aspect! Best wishes to all the gals. I just wish I had started a thread like this a year ago!

    @sheii:

There lots of places to do engagement pics in PR other than Old San Juan, it just depends of what kind of feel you want. (Historic Site, Natural Green or Beach)

You can do them in a tropical rainforest, El Yunque, or in old caverns in Camuy, the are also a large numbers of renovated haciendas around the island that are beautiful and there are numerous beaches with wonderful scenery where it can take place.

I am Puertorrican, born and bred, live here and planning my wedding here, so I could reccomend a few places according to the vibe you want.

Good Luck with the planning girls!

Planning a November - 2012 destination wedding in Old San Juan. I'm wondering if anyone can comment on the weather in early November?  Is it too risky?

We're also still looking for a ceremony musician and would love recommendations!

@kristen.helmer: Congratulations!!!!  Where in Old San Juan?  It has been a while since I was there in November.  From what I remember it is hot but not scorching, cooler at nights, less change of hurricane...

I haven't found ceremony musician yet but love my coordinator, videographer, photographer, hair & makeup artist, florist, hotel, etc if you need referrals

Thanks! We are going through WedAffair for most of our ceremony details (at El Morro.)  Our reception dinner will be at Hotel El Convento.  Almost wondering if we should do recorded music during the ceremony, but I don't want it to feel hokey.

Still deciding on a photographer as well. :)

Would also love any recommendations for inexpensive easy activities/day trips for our guests.

@kristen.helmer: Oh my goodness El Morro is so beautiful!  as well as El Convento.  You can do recorded music...if it is in your budget I would maybe try to find a local musician for the ceremony.  I was torn at first too, but I have kept reading and hearing from people that the ceremony really IS what the whole day is about, so if it is in your budget I would look into it.  Maybe call "el catedral" the cathedral 787-727-0861 right across from el convento and ask them for musicians from the church... might be more inexpensive since they would be locals that would not necessarily be googable.  Also the forest rangers at "El Morro" believe it or not are VERY knowleadable and can provide you with recommendations.

I LOVE my photographer www.rafaelsotomayor.com   He is amazing and has been SO HELPFUL and supportive with referrals and ideas.

My videographer Raymond Video Productions also does photos and he is as my FH says "Steven Spielberg"...they are pricey but I figured that it is what will remain to capture that day. :)

For activities try Castillo Tours...our favorite was the Catamaran Sail to Icacos island, all day, lunch, drinks, snorkel and the most beautiful crystal clear blue water.  They also have excursions to Bacardi distillery, Old San Juan, El Yunque rainforest, and the bioluminescent bay.  www.castillotours.com  We may coordinate some of the trips for our guests.

Hope this helps :)  Let me know if you have any other questions or need any other referrals.

    Hi!

I'm getting married in Isabela, PR on February 18, 2012.

I have almost everything done, but liek some recommendations.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an officiant in that area? Right now I have  a justice of the peace, but I'd like to know of other options.

And how about a DJ in the area?

    Thanks!

I'm trying to plan a wedding ceremony in PR in May 2012.  Does anyone have any recommendations on where to have it?  I do have an El Morro permit reserved but from all the reviews I've read everyone says it's very windy.  Also I'm afraid if it rains we will be out of luck.  So now I'm trying to figure out where to have it.  I've been looking at different resorts/hotels, does anyone have any recommendations?  I was looking at La Concha as I always stay at Marriotts but I'm not sure this is exactly what I want.  Also for our stay there, any recommendations on where we should stay?  We want to find a nice beach and do some tours, any recommendations would greatly help.  Thanks Rachael
