We did not have the style of wedding that I wanted due to cost but now twenty years later i would love to have the type of party we could not before. I asked my mom what she thought about having a party for our 20th and she said it was a bad idea. She said we should wait until the 25th. What do you think?

PS I just want to have the party part not the vows part. It would be around 45 guest

I’d go for it! Its your marriage, afterall!
While my husband and i have barely been married a year, we agreed that we will renew our vows on every continent just the two of us, whenever we happen to be on that continent. We also intend on having an intimate less than 50 guests renewal at a location that was way out of budget at 15 years. Simply because thats when so many of the marriages around us ended.

20 years is definitely a big enough milestone. Go for it!

Congratulation on your 20 year marriage. Most people don’t last to 5 years so to reach 20 is a milestone and should be celebrated how ever you want to celebrate it.
I just celebrated my 20th also July 10th and when I was planning what to do, I had first thought to have a vowel renewal and reception. However the hubby said to wait until the 25th and we would do it up big. I was good with that, since we had renewed @ 15 years in Jamaica. So instead we opted to have a few couples join us in the Domician Republic for a fabulous 10 day vacation where we celebrated our 20th anniversary. It was a blast and I can’t wait until my 25th cause I’ll get to have another wedding and big party.
Something to thing about. Do what makes YOU happy. YOU deserve it. What ever your decision enjoy, you will only reach that 20 year marriage mark once.

Most couples actually do make it to five years, but I understand your sentiment.
Your celebration sounds wonderful!
