I agree, you could have ovulated late, since you weren’t charting or anything – ovulation can be delayed by a lot of things.  It sounds like your spotting and cramping at CD29-31 could have been ovulation.  Having cramping a week later could certainly be implantation.  Assuming these dates, testing on CD 35 and 36 would have been too early to show anything.  You would actually be 11-13 DPO now.  I say get a FRER and test again.  If you are pregnant, you may be far enough now for it to show up positive.
