In my hometown, for some reason most showers have a bazillion hostesses....I have one shower with 23 and one with only 2...any gift ideas for 25 hostesses that won't be so expensive??

For Mother's Day we got little bud vases from the dollar store and a couple bunches of tulips for our aunts and cousins.  Each vase got three flowers and a card tied around it with ribbon.  It actually looked really cute and they absolutely loved them.  My mom said she loved the vase.  She used to do flowers so I didn't have the heart to tell her where I bought it from.  :-)

Not sure if something like that would work for you or not...

Wow, I guess it's just funny for me to hear because I've always been to a bridal shower where maybe two or three were the hosts. BUT, I guess my advice would be to do something that is edible. Most people have enough stuff as it is and don't need dust catchers laying around---my whole reasoning about giving edible wedding favors too, who wants a little bell with your wedding date on it? No one. So, is there a type of food, candy, treat that is popular from your area?

I would go with either a potted plant or flowering plant or some baked goodies.

    ohmigoodness!  That is insane.

I didn't do anything for my shower hostesses.  I felt bad after reading on WeddingBEe about how all these girls had gifts to bring.  I just wrote thank you notes after the shower.  oh well.

i would do a cookie or treat in a cute wrapping, or flowers (you can buy them wholesale or from a grocery store and arranged them yourself!

yes. insane.  and with so many to buy for the cookies would be a good idea...I was also thinking since there are so many I could maybe do something really small that would probably be considered a "favor."  I found these really cute pear kitchen timers...they are like $3 a piece....I hate to do something so cheap but there are just sooo many ladies!  Am I being cheap??  I know like with smaller numbers of hostesses the bride would get a really nice gift for them maybe even something personalized...I just can't afford to do that....and curlysue is right nobody wants a trinket with our wedding date on it!

chantellamus~~I think they do it that way so that the bride can get her "big gift" from the hostesses...ie, luggage, pots and pans, etc...and all the expenses for food and drink and decorations are divvied up between all and not just 2 or 3 people...also, SOOOOO many people offer up their help....I really don't know how this way got started...It's just always been done like that....every shower I have ever attended or been a hostess for there has never been less than 10 or 12 hostesses!

Can I ask how many guests will be attending?  Do you there will also be favors?  I think something small is appropriate in this situation.  Not to sound harsh, but with 23 hostesses the time and money burden on each one is also small.

FWIW, for those who came out for my B'ette party, I put together small gifts with a bottle opener (appr. for BP, not shower), some candy, and really good lip stuff.  the lip stuff was actually on sale at Bath and Body works.  something like that might seem nice.

well, including the hostesses there are 73 invited....I thought about favors but my MOH said NO!  She said with punch, cake and food I did not need to do anything else for the guests...a nice thank you card would be fine....I guess that makes sense...Idk this is all new to me!
