I was waiting for my wedding band to be sized, (it took a little longer than they thought it would) and I was chatting with the sales guy there. I asked him what the most he’s ever seen someone spend on an e-ring and he said $250k. What?!? He said that 240k of it was just the main diamond- apparently it was one grade under flawless and 5.5 cts. I can’t even imagine- that’s more than I’ll be paying for a house! Have any of you heard of, seen, or own a ring that expensive?

I haven’t seen any in person. There is no way I would pay that much/have Fiance pay, even if we were wealthy. There are soooo many things I could put that toward. I could live off of that for years and years as we speak!

@TeeBee25: I have never owned a ring that expensive or even close. However I have worn rings this expensive. My dad is a jeweler so that is the reason I have ever had the opportunity.

I’ve never seen one IRL, let alone own one myself

I mean if that’s all he can afford I guess that’s ok, but I’d be worried that if he spent that little, he doesn’t really love you.

I’ve met a few women with rings that were in that price range. All of them had been married for some time and were older, 50’s-70’s. They weren’t exactly everyday rings either. Mostly worn for special occasions, ceremonies and the like.
Never seen something like that on a younger woman. Most of the few that could afford it prefer smaller, so as not to be noticed or judged by others.

He was also telling us about a half carat natural red diamond that sold in Japan for half a million dollars. The grades on it weren’t very impressive either. It was just because red diamonds are so rare. Supposedly they bought it as an investment.
@joya_aspera: You know that k means thousand right?

@TeeBee25: yes. I mean it’s less than a house, really.
