Just curious to see how many people are aware of this tradition, and if anyone is planning a romantic proposal to their man?  Or lady for that matter!

My georgeous man proposed to me last year and did such a wonderful job, I thought it would be nice and kind of cute to organise a little mock proposal for him on the 29th Feb this year!

I'm a bit of a feminist so I was told from very early on in our relationship that I wasn't to get certain modern ideas into my head and that he would be doing the proposing.  Fine, happy to let him have his way on that one.  But now that we're already engaged I think if I organised something really romantic and special and asked him to marry him (to confirm that he still wants to lol?) he would really dig it.

Now, does anyone have any awesome, romantic ideas for that I could incorporate into a mock proposal?  I won't be getting him an engagement ring as he's still reluctant even on the idea of wearing a wedding ring (don't worry he's going to!), and it will be a private affair rather than public spectacle as he would be embarrassed and uncomfortable in a public situation.  Also 29th Feb falls on a Wednesday and we'll both be working, so it will need to be in the evening.

Interested to hear other bees opinions.  All input and ideas are welcome!!!

Just been reading about some of the traditions around this.  Apparently it was written into Scottish law that on this date women were "allowed" to break the strict rules of courtship and ask a man to marry.  And if the man refused they were fined!  Payment could be a kiss, payment for a silk dress or a pair of gloves.

Apparently wearing a red petticoat that peeked out under your dress increased the chances of an acceptance.  I guess today's equivalent would be to make sure you have some good cleavage on display?
