(I’ve edited for clarity; first time around was confusing.)
I’m looking for suggestions as to whether moissy is actually more expensive than diamonds at the size that would be used for a band around 2mm.
For times that I opt for my plain wedding band (rather than my e-ring set), I would love to have an eternity band to wear with it. My wedding band is just under 2mm and I would like an eternity (or half-eternity) band right around that same size. The moissy that I found was over $600 at my size (7.25).
I’m leaning towards diamond, unless y’all tell me that the diamond eternity bands under that $600 price range will be 1) yellow or 2) in rings that fall apart in two weeks…

Hi @lawyerbride15: first & foremost, I see you are NEW to WBee… so a BIG Welcome to “the Hive”
You can most certainly find diamond eternity rings in that price range… even at a Chain Jewellery Store.
I have a Half-Eternity 14 K WGold Ring with a half-carat of Channel Set Diamonds that is a bit more than your budget (but then again, mine is half-carat – and the Ring is CERTIFIED with CANADIAN DIAMONDS) so right there is going to drive up the cost.
BUT you can most certainly find a ring that is similar to mine, for around your price range… be that a half-carat non-Certified / Canadian, or a similar 1/4 Carat.
COLOUR – CLARITY etc is going to be decent as well.
I got my ring at Peoples here in Canada (Zales in the USA)… here is a link to the Zales Website, and a sort I did on Diamond Wedding Bands = http://www.zales.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=3280879&fg=&ff=PAD&fv=Gender%2FLadies%27&fd=Ladies%27&size=96&&cp=13337262′ defer=’defer
Personally, I have no qualms buying from Peoples / Zales… my first Bridal Set (circa 1980) came from them, and the Quality was excellent, and my rings are just as good as the day I got them 30+ years ago. So not the type of stuff that falls apart. And Peoples / Zales has that upgrade option, biannual inspections, cleanings etc.
Hope this helps,

I think pictures of what you have and what you want would be helpful! I probably wouldn’t put moissanite right next to diamond depending on the style and size, but plenty of people do. The differences would drive me nuts, because I’m pretty particular.

@lawyerbride15: I’d go diamond all the way. I think you can get away with having a diamond engagement ring next to a moissy band because the moissy’s are so small. However there may still be times when you see a yellow/gray green cast to the moissanite jewels, even if they are FB or Amora enhanced, that’s just the nature of the jewel.
My disclaimer is that I am not into man made simulants. I think moissanite is expensive for what it is . I vote diamond, even if you have to pay a few bucks more, it’s worth more.

@lawyerbride15: Moissanite all the way, they look very similar to diamonds when they’re that small.

@lawyerbride15: I have a 1/4 ct. diamond 3/4 eternity 14K white gold band from Zales that cost $400. It sparkles just fine. Moissanite can have a gray/greenish hue to it so you should check it out in person before purchasing. Supposedly you can’t tell if the stones are small but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
