Wedding is in July, I bought the dress back in May.. sort of felt pressurred into it, but I truly did love it (and still like it alot!). Since I got it so long ago, and have seen SO MANY of the freaking dress shows on TLC, I keep seeing things I like better! I had a very small budget, and the dress I have was way over that; my mom covered the costs, and it was so nice of her. I know most of the dresses I see on TV and online galleries are way out of any price range I would even consider, so I do feel like if I got what I truly wanted out of  dress, it would cost me about a few grand and that's not ok w/ me.

So I took my dress, colored over it in Paint with my mad paint skills, and came up with these. I am posting the original (the jacket does not come w/ it, but I am considering a cap sleeve lace one) and the one I painted over, front and the back. I just need some opinions. The back of the dress is boring, so I want to do something fun w/ the brown sash, but I can't think of anything. I need advice on what to do with the back of the gown, the cap sleeve jacket/shrug thing, and maybe making the neckline a little more "sweetheart". and anything else! I just need to fall in love with it again. Selling and and rebuying is really not a route I want to consider, esp since I didn't buy it myself.

I live in Pa, the dress is actually at my mom's in NC, so I will not even get to see it again until I go down for the fitting in the spring :(  Maybe if I couls see it and touch it I wouldn't feel so terrible about it!

I think its a beautiful dress!

Most brides go through the same feelings that you are.

I love the idea a capped sleeves.

very pretty with your paint job skills, i don't think that the alterations will be that cost prohibitive either...

I think what you're going through is completely natural. Having said that I really like the cap sleeve idea alot! It definitely couldn't hurt to do some minor changes to really make it the dress of your dreams! Good luck!

Wow, you did that in paint? Good job. I'm totally paint-inept. I think it's an absolutely BEAUTIFUL dress. Is there anyway you could fly down before the spring to see it? I know alot of brides second guess their dress when they can't see it.

It's a beautiful dress! I personally had to stop looking at dresses because I have already bought my dress and know if I keep looking I may see other dresses I love. Dont' tempt yourself and trust your instinct!

Thats a good idea. I think I'll try that haha. My mom is coming up to Pa for X-mas so maybe I'll make her bring the dress just so I can touch it for a few days ahhaha

Honestly. I think it's gorgeous and elegant as-is.  I wouldn't change a thing about it.  Best of luck, no matter what you decide!

Agree.. I love the dress the way it is. It's beautiful & elegant. If you MUST make a change I would only do one or the other. If you do both the cap sleeves & the huge bow it would be too busy. I'd choose a smaller cap sleeve & forget the sash. I think it's Beautiful! Hopefully once you get it in your hands and try it on again you'll see how much you love it!

I wouldn't change your dress at all!!! It is SO beautiful the way it is and I don't think that the back is boring...it is very classic/timeless :) Maybe seeing it and trying it on again will make all of your worries go away. Your worries are totally normal. I know that I definitely went through the same thing, but trust the reasons that you first fell in love with your dress.

It's gorgeous!  I have to stop myself from second-guessing my dress, too.

    no worries! totally normal!

great idea with the sash down the back, but I don't think it's plain without it. there is a lot of details.  the bodice and waist are gorgeous. the cap sleeve or delicate bolero will be beautiful. the delicate sweetheart neckline with the details is perfect as it is.

the dress is gorgeous either way (original and paint version). you can't go wrong!

    good luck!

I went through exactly the same thing when I bought my dress.  I got it one week and then totaly freaked out about it the next, so bad that I had to go back to the shop to see it.  Once I  tried the dress on again, any worrying I had been doing stoped and I felt like such a dumb ass for worrying in the first place :-)

Your dress is beautiful (and I'm not just saying that) it's very classic and elegant, as soon as you see it again you'll feel much better, promise ;-)
