Has this happened to anyone else? I’ve seriously tried on about 25 dresses of all shapes and sizes at two places and didn’t love them at all. Some were ‘meh’ but nothing that made me get excited.
I am SO frustrated right now and don’t even think I’m being super picky. I’m a normal size (8) and have given all shapes of dresses a go, from the elaborate to the simple.
I’m kind of afraid time will run out and I will have to settle on a dress that makes me feel just okay instead of wonderful. 🙁

same boat as you. Been to 3 salons, tried about 15-20 dresses? There’s only 1 that I am considering, but I just really like it and not love it…it still feels like it’s missing something. Going to try on more dresses tomorrow and something totally different, so hope it’s got that pizazz I’m looking for! Good luck to you as well!

I went to 4 salons and tried on over 40 dresses before I found the dress – I am a size 6 and the dresses looked great and my friends got very frustrated but I am glad I kept shopping until I found something special that gave me “that” reaction 🙂

Can you articulate what you do and don’t like? Have you considered shopping at higher end shops, then buying a sample or preowned dress online to bring the expensive dresses into your budget?
; When I went to a mid-range shop (Maggie Sottero, Justin Alexander, Casablanca), I didn’t really like anything. When I bumped up to the Amsale, Monique Lhuilliers, Modern Trousseau, and Rivini level, I found lots of dresses I loved. I wound up getting an Amsale sample.

I went to 4 different places and tried on almost 65 or so dresses before I found the one I bought

OP it takes time and not all of us have that immediate magical moment, or a specific moment at all. I shopped for about three months and probably tried on well over 50 dresses until I found the one that made me feel like a bride. I tried on every shape, color etc.
Best of luck and keep us posted, take pictures if you can. 🙂

That’s nothing, you’re just getting started. Keep at it, and don’t settle! I tried on about 75 dresses, and there was just one that I kept going back to and thinking about, even though lots of them were very pretty in their own right. On the final day, I tried on about 10-15 dresses, including the one I kept going back to. I was sort of reassuring myself that that was really the one. Then, I’m not kidding, the VERY LAST dress I was going to try on ended up being the REAL one. Keep looking, don’t give up and don’t settle.

Keep on shopping. I never got the “it’s the one” feeling, and I tried on close to a 100 dresses. There were a couple that could have been “ok”, and as I kept on saying, I’d be happy to be married in them. But your wedding dress should be a dress you’d be thrilled to be married in! I am so, so glad that I listened to my gut and kept on searching until I found the gown that I could picture myself getting married in. Do not settle!

It took me until the 7 or 8th time out to find a dress. If you haven’t found it yet, don’t be afraid to keep looking!

for you girls who’ve shopped multiple times, did you go back to the same salon? I’m going back to a salon I’ve been to already tmorrow and I’m kinda nervous there’d be more pressure to buy now that they know it wasn’t my first time anymore.

Definitely had the same issue. Like Jeanine, I had better luck with a sample of a high- end designer I ordered off http://www.yourdreamdress.com. I knew what style elements looked good on me and my measurements, plus they had a return policy. I never had an emotional moment, but I was definitely happy with my choice.

if you are feeling too much pressure, just leave. It’s what I always do with high end purchases. I come back in a day or two when I’ve had time to think rationally. They are always happy to take my money!

I went to 5 salons and tried on probably ~60 dresses before I found the one. Don’t worry, you will find your dress!

I think that’s normal 🙂 I went to 3 different salons, including one twice, before I found my dress. It was literally the last one I tried on. I think I just gave up! 🙂 You’ll find it, don’t worry!

I went w/ a Sample dress. Like @GeorgiaBee, I got my Badgley Mishcka from Yourdreamdress.com. I didn’t get the warm fuzzy feeling until I had my first fitting. Don’t get me wrong, She’s a beautiful dress but it became emotional knowing that She was the one I would be wearing when I got married to my Darling Husband.
My suggestion is to look on preownedweddingdresses.com if you know the style and you have your sizing. A ton of boutiques sell samples @ reasonable prices.
