I am so excited to reveal to the hive my almost finished custom designed dress.
Just a recap from other posts (and some info I may not have posted). When I first started wedding planning I had a vision of a dress in mind…it was a custom designed vision and I knew of a dress designer that could do it for me…but I hesitated so I bought a dress. Had dress regret, sold that dress (but first used it for a fashionable engagement shoot). Then I tried other dresses on, seriously considered a few of them but I was getting tired of shopping and looking at dresses (as you do when you try on 50+). So I finally reverted back to the original idea to get a custom made dress, and I am oh so glad I did.
For those of you who know, I found a “inspiration” pic for my dress.
NOTE: Now for those of you who do not know, I already designed the dress in my head before I ever saw the inspiration picture. I just happened to find this inpiration pic and it helped me explain my vision to the designer.
Here is the “inspiration” (or gideline if you will) pic for recall purposes
Now for the good stuff!
My dress has a few a fun trick that the dress above does not have. It converts, so the lace comes off and a easy to dance in dress is under. So here is the last picture I posted of the fitting of the dress that goes on underneath the lace
NOTE: the dress straps were unfinished at the time of the pic.
Today I just had the first fitting with the lace!
And my favourit part so far
NOTE: the back is unfinished and will have covered buttons down the back that ends just under my bum.
I will also be getting a custom mantilla veil with the edging from the same aloncon lace of my dress!
My dress should be done next monday! So excited to see it all done!!!! (I will keep you posted!

@Miss Circe: thanks! I am so excited to see it finished. He has to actually attach the arms (they were pinned on here right under my armpit) and then scalop the edges at the wrist and add buttons as well he will be adding scalloped edges to the shoulder/collar area (by scalloped I mean cut out lace applique and sew them on so the design of the floral is right at the edge).
And thanks, if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have caught my wrong spelling of mantilla 😉 lol.

Your dress is gorgeous! I love that it’s convertable. You can even dye the dress underneath and use it after the wedding.

Omg, the dress looks amazing on you! Love it so far! 🙂

@alyssa247: RIGHT! That’s exactly what I was thinking too (we must be on the same wave length…haha). The designer even said he could dye it for me (he suggested a light colour since dark is hard to get the right shade).
