I didn't see a thread today and I need to log in otherwise, I won't be accountable! So here it is ladies: Did you shred today?

    I did! Let's see that's: 1.1 (day 1, level 1)

I suckedass, had to catch my breath a few times, and Anita's my bud, but hey, it's a start.

The shred is intense! I got about half way through a month then lost it, but it's a great workout! Good for you!!!

I love love love this workout. Using Jillian's dvds and eating better, I lost 30lbs before my wedding (over two years, and not working AS hard as I probably should/could have)... the results speak for themselves! Good luck!

@7SEVENJ9: Oh my gosh! 30 pounds is amazing--congratulations! How long were you at it?

I have Jillian's No More Trouble Zones (love!) and her Burn Fat Boost Metabolism--which I never do because it kicks my ASS! But I bet if I did them every day, I'd tone up like crazy because they're hard man.

@jennyw1, it took 2 years, probably 1 year of actually working hard (every other month I'd find motivation again...), but I did the shred straight through 4 times, 30 days straight. I have NMTZ and BFBM too (I never do BFBM either!). When I did shred the first time, I lost like 3lbs, but lost a ton of inches. The second time I did the shred, I lost 9lbs... and not so many inches. Overall I went from a size 12/14 to a 4/6.

    Day 3, Level 1 = shredded!

I;m on Day 2 Level 1.. and am SOOO sore.  My FI laughs at me trying to go up & down stairs (we have a 2 story townhome.. lots of fun when you're sore).  BUT, I was really surprised at how much easier I was able to get through it today.  Day 1, I had to stop multiple times, and seriously thought I was going to throw up at one point (I'm so out of shape).  But, I did it today all the way through without stopping, and it was still tough, but felt SO much easier than yesterday!

Forgot to check in yesterday, but I did Day 5, Level 1! See you ladies again later today after I shred again--this time FI promises to do it with me, so I should have some hilarity to report.

    Hello Shredders!

Day 3, Level 1! (okay, I didn't *Shred* yesterday, but I DID do the Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout DVD with Jillian and although it's ever-so-slightly less hi-impact, it makes up for it in time. So I'm counting it, dammit, because it kicked my ass too! Is there ANYTHING Jillian does that doesn't kick my ass?)

@HoyaLawya2010: That's so sweet that your FI is doing it with you! Yes, please give us all the gory details.

Whew, ok, so I just finished Day 6, Level 1! I'm starting to feel pretty comfortable with this workout. Almost no soreness left now, which is great. I'm doing all of Natalie's moves, except for the pushups--my little twiglet arms just cannot do full pushups yet. I'll be moving up to Level 2 on Black Friday! It will be such a challenge to keep this going when I'm home for the holiday.

@JennyW1: Oooh, what's the Last Chance? I might have to check out some more of Jillian's workout. I am really liking her style. And yes, that totally counts!

FI chickened out and didn't shred with me today--boo! Sorry to disappoint you all! I'm going to keep after him to try it with me; he wants to get into a workout routine, and 20-25 minutes at home would be perfect with his crazy work schedule. Don't worry, ya'll will be the first to hear about it when he tries it.

Ooh bees I commented on the old thread! I followed through with my plan of starting again at level 1, but I don't think I'll do it for a week- level 2 makes me alot more winded and sweaty and gets my heart rate up more, even if I don't always feel like I'm doing it right! 2 days at level 1 then I'm moving back up to level 2. Another cool thing is that I didn't gain any weight on my week of indulgence! The shred must have lasting effects :)

Go bees! Just finished Day 7, Level 1! I don't have a scale so I can't speak to pounds, but I'm definitely feeling tighter all over and my clothes seem a little bit looser. Yay for progress! I hope it keeps going in this direction over Thanksgiving.

Ehh I fail... I did three days in a row of level 1... and then took three days off... I'm pretty dissappointed with myself.  I did, however, just do it again this morning and really pushed myself.  I promise you ladies and myself that I will do this!!!

P.S. During the buttkicks in level 1, do any of you kinda hop around the room??  I keep ending up going in circles and I seriously don't mean to!

level 1 day 3, check!  I can't decide whether to move to level 2 tomorrow...i think i should cause i know i should kick it up before the christmas/lazy season, but i'm really liking Level 1 and feeling like i'm doing the moves alot better than i used to!

Anyway - i actually feel great...never taking a week off of it again, i felt so sluggish and bad about myself last week.

Just finished Day 8, Level 1!

@AmyDee: It's ok, you're getting back into the swing of things! We're here to keep you motivated :) Lol sometimes I move around doing the butt kicks. Not in complete circles, but I definitely don't end up in the same place I started!

@ScarletBegonia: I feel great too--it's amazing what this does for your energy and self-esteem. At this point I feel like Level 1 is a little easy for me, but I like what it's doing for my legs/butt so I think I'm going to finish it out. Those are definitely my trouble areas and I'm seeing some benefit so I think I'll stick with it.

    Go shredding bees!

    Hi everyone!

I just discovered this thread and I'm loving it! It's great to see all you lovely ladies doing this workout, too. :) I just finished Day 6, Level 1 yesterday and I didn't feel like it was enough of a workout so I got up early and did Day 1, Level 2 this morning. OMG. I probably did about 65% of the workout because it was HARD! I was sweating and panting the whole time. Those plank jump things are going to be the death of me, I know it! BUT I'm also looking forward to the challenge, since I started Day 1, Level 1 not even being able to do a single pushup. I think that's quite an improvement! I'm also running 30 mins 3 times a week, and doing weight training at the gym, as well as yoga once a week. I hope to be nice and fit for when I go on vacation in January. :)

I tried to get my husband to do it with me but so far, no luck!

Day 4, level 1, and i'm especially proud of myself because i was out late last night AND i had to get up about 15 minutes earlier than usual (which, when you're talking 5:25am, is pretty significant!!!) to get the shred done so i'd have time to make an early meeting.  AND I DID IT!

Question for level 1ers - with the last strength exercise, the side lunges with shoulder raises:

    a) do you use the regular hand weights that you use for the rest of the exercises?  I find it really hard to get through the minute using the regular weights (i use 2 1/2 kg weights - about 6 lbs).  Lately i've been using one of the weights instead of 2, and holding it in both my hands.

    b) How far apart do you place your legs?  I started out doing them with my legs spread as wide as possible, and didn't really feel like i was getting much out of it...now i keep my legs closer together (but still spread wider than hips, obvi) and it feels alot harder! thoughts?

@ScarletBegonia: I use two sets of weights for the exercises. The first set of exercises (squat and press) and the last set (the one you're referring to) I use my lighter set (4 lbs). The middle set and the chest flies I use 5 lb weights. I actually don't find the side lunge ones that hard, it's the first ones that give me trouble!

Day 9, Level 1 down! Woohoo! One more day to go--hopefully I'll git er done before the turkey--and then I'm on to Level 2 on Black Friday!

@ScarletBegonia: I was using (LOL) 2-lb jars of spaghetti sauce for awhile so I used those for the side lunges as well and didn't have any problems. Today I started using 5-lb hand weights and it was noticeably more challenging--I wimped out on a couple of reps. We'll see how sore I am tomorrow to see if I need to modify. I've also been doing my legs pretty far apart and I do still feel like I'm getting something out of it, but I haven't tried moving them closer. Maybe I'll try that tomorrow! The legs don't bother me as much as they do on the static lunges, but the arms are killing me at that point in the workout.

crapped out today :( I was chapperoning a dance last night and some idiot parent forgot to pick their kid up, so i didn't get home til after 12.  Combine that with my fiance waiting up for me so he could tell me all about his first day at work...and the fact that we hadn't "been together" in nearly a week...and it all added up to a late night.  WHen the alarm went off at 5:45 there was just no way.   Saturday Shred it is!!! Hope you bees are doing better than me :)

BLAH I FAILED AGAIN darn you turkey day!!  I am going to start completely from scratch TOMORROW.  Back to Day 1, Level 1!!

I hate missing days, I feel so awful about myself.  Yesterday when I shredded, it just felt so good!!  I was smiling while doing the punches (and pretending I was hitting Jillian's face while doing so) and now I just feel crappy.  So, starting over tomorrow it is!!

    Thanks for the support :)

Day 1, Level 2...yikes, i forgot how much it hurt to do it!  I haven't reached the soreness yet, but my whole body was screaming while i was doing it!

Didn't do the shred once over the weekend unfortunately :( Definitely doing 5 days this week.

How did everyone's thanksgiving shreds go???

I didn't shred for three days (but I did hit the gym and run 4 miles, do my regular strength training, as well as an hour of dance class during that time) but I am back today! I did Day 2, Level 2 this afternoon and boy I sure sweated it out! The first day on Level 2 I only managed about 65% of the exercises, and while I wimped out on a few reps today, I probably did about 90% of them! I am happy with the progress! Those plank jumps are still killer! I think I'll be on Level 2 for a while.

I'm sorry for my delinquency in posting over the last few days! I managed to shred every day over Thanksgiving break and today, so I'm up to Day 3, Level 2. HOLY COW, is the jump from Level 1 to Level 2 difficult! Level 2 kicks my butt! However, I wasn't as sore as I thought I would be after going up a level, so that's good. Hard to tell if I've made any progress weight/toning wise, due to all the food I've stuffed into my face over the last few days, but I'm glad I did it.

@HoyaLawya2010: yay! congrats on not taking a break!! i just can't seem to get the motivation on weekends.  I usually take walks and stuff so i do at least some exercise, but the shred just never seems to get done.  I showed my fiance the walking push ups over the weekend and we had a competition - though i wasn't going down as far as him, i managed to do 16 in a row and he crapped out at 14!  Whoop!  They are such a good move i think!

Thanksgiving shreds went well! I haven't posted, but I did every other day, so up to day 7 level 1.  I am going to do a few more days on level one, with a heavier weight before moving to level 2 though.

Day 2, level 2 in the books!  I'm pretty sore, but not nearly as sore as the first time i did Level 2. I did have to stop for 5 seconds in the middle of the plank jacks - my arms just gave out!!  Thats the worst worst worst part of it for me - the last cardio interval! I always want to die!

@ScarletBegonia: I feel you; I haaaate the plank jacks. Actually, pretty much all of the plank moves, because they kill my shoulders! I'm actually not feeling much in the abs from Level 2, especially the rotating plank thingies in the final abs circuit. Boo!

I love this thread. It totally keeps me motivated. I get all excited to post after I work out. It's like a little mental pat on the back.

That said, I'm dreading shredding tonight (lol) b/c I've been getting some pain in my chest over the last 24 hrs and I think shredding will aggravate it. Actually, I'm pretty sure Level 2 is causing it. It's not heart related so no worries; just inflammation in the muscles between my ribs. I get it sometimes from certain exercises. I think all the cardio plank moves are not helping! Anyway, I feel like I should still try to shred but I'm going to use lighter weights and do all beginner mods on the plank moves. Hopefully that will help; I'll report back later. Boo--I really don't want to get derailed!

@HoyaLawya2010: yeah i gave up on the plank twists last time...they didn't seem to be doing much for me, cause i think maybe i'm not strong enough to do them properly yet.  So instead i do the bicylce crunches from level 1.  THey still give me a burn in my abs and i actually feel like i'm accomplishing something.  Maybe an option for you as well?

How painful are the chair squats??? i dread them all night before i wake up to do the shred.  Of course when i do do them, its never as bad as i think it will be, but they are uncomfortable!

I agree about this thread...its a little reward after the hard work!

@ScarletBegonia: Good idea on the bicycle crunches. I'll try those tonight--that should take some pressure off my chest as well.

I could be doing the chair squats wrong but those don't bother my legs. However, the arm raises with them DESTROY my arms. I cannot lift those 5lb weights anywhere remotely near my eyeballs or even boob level. I can't really get them much higher than my belly button. I think I'm going to go back to my 2 lb spaghetti sauce jars for those. I had similar trouble with the anterior raises with the side lunges in Level 1, so I must just have really weenie muscles in that area.

It's totally fun to hear everyone's opinions of the workouts! I don't know anyone shredding IRL so it's great to chew it over on here.
