So far so good! I'm on my 4th day of the 30 Day Shred. I'm still on Level 1, but I'm feeling better about the cardio aspect of it. Anyone still on it? How are you doing??
hey, I've been shredding a couple days a week for about two months and jogging two or three other days. Before then, I was just jogging. I've noticed a big difference in my arms. Keep with it! It's worth it.
I <3 the shred, i've done levels 1 and 2, but my focus at the moment in endurance. So I've been double shredding level 1 and i'd like to get to the point where i double shred level 1 then 2 and so on. I<3 the shred!
Great job! I've been doing the Shred regularly for several months now. I've lost an inch off my hips and bust, and 2.5 inches from my waist! And really I haven't done any additional exercise until lately. It has gotten almost too easy, but I didn't think of doing levels 2 and 3 back to back.
I see many of you ladies speaking og the 30 day shred, whats it like? how much? are results good?
Chantellamus - it's super cheap on amazon ($9!!!) I say do it, do it hard, and when you stop feeling like you're going to die - do it harder. I'm a shred/jillian devotee for sure. She has 2 new DVD's I plan on getting once I'm back in America!
Dorsay, that sounds great your so commited to them - but you never mentioned the results (obviously there were some or you wouldnt vouch for it)
Just did level 2 an hour ago and I bought the DVD for my mom today. I hope she likes it!
I love the shred, too!!!!
Jillian kicks my a$$.
I consider myself in pretty good shape, but I haven't gone past level 2 yet (and I've been doing the shred for probably 2 months off and on now). One thing I'm doing to keep the exercise interesting is that when I go back to level 1, I make myself use much heavier weights (like 6-8 lbs). On higher levels (like if I ever make it to level 3!) I start at very very low weights - like 2-3 lbs.
Good luck! I love shredding with jillian!
Good hustle ladies!
Day5, Level 1, still loving it. I previewed level 2, and boy did it scare me. I like the idea of adding heavier weights to Level 1, and bulding endurance. I haven't had time to do other workouts (gym, go running, etc) just yet. I guess that is why I am enjoying the shred. I'm hoping to see results, I just took my measurements as well. I noticed though that my 1st day was tough, but today was good. Keep it going ladies!!
I heard everyone talk about this on here and I thought...sure...whatever. I've tried about 10 workout DVDs and each one is either not hard enough or doesn't show proper form/do the same reps on each side of the body. I used to teach kickboxing at my gym so I learned a lot about proper form and like to really work hard. So even though I was skeptical I purchased this because I'd iike a little addition to my workouts to up the intensity.
WOW....all the things people say about this DVD is totally true... it's FREAKIN' HARD! But not so hard that it's impossible....but WOW....it's good! She's also great at telling you the proper form so you don't hurt yourself and showing modifications. It's a really great DVD workout. Enjoy! Thanks for helping me discover it.
Ms Popcorn -hooray for you! I am so happy to hear that you jumped on this fitness bandwagon. I have really enjoyed the DVD immensely, although I'm a little scared of Level 2...lol
Okay, you ladies have me sold! I work out regularly (mostly yoga and some cardio here and there), but this seems like fun! On my way to amazon.com right now!
I am on Day 5 of Level 1 and let me tell you, I LOVE it! I actually started pretty hard core for about two weeks but then I hurt my back and couldn't do it for 2 weeks so I JUST started back. I really enjoy it and have started jogging for about 10 minutes or so before I start just to get my heart rate up. I am planning on getting a HRM because I have heard that helps you know exactly how many calories you are burning and making sure you stay in your target heart rate. I am SO glad to know that there are others on here who are trying this out who are all getting married soon. I really want to look fantastic in my dress! My arms have always been a sore spot with me so I am hoping that I can really tone them up. Even though, overall toning would be FABULOUS! :-)
I started shredding three weeks ago because I was looking for a way to add strength/circuit training to my workout, and because so many bees and other bloggers rave about it, plus it was cheap compared to most workout dvds, especially with well-known trainers. I also am skeptical, because I own about 10 different DVDs and eventually tire of all of them, or hate the trainers. But I already knew I like Jillian from the show, and she's awesome.
I moved up to level 2 almost immediately, because I was already in pretty good shape and level one felt a little easy - and I'm currently dealing with carpal tunnel so I couldn't step up the weights.
Ms. D'Orsay - you should consider what I did today, which is that instead of shredding level 1-2, I shredded level 2-1, which was way easier than shredding 1-2. It was pretty easy to give my all to level 2, because I knew I level 1 would be easier, whereas when I shred 1-2, I tend to try to "conserve" some of my strength because its going to get harder.
@ VanCaster: the 30 day shred is a workout video made by Jillian Michaels, the trainer from The Biggest Loser. It's a popular pre-wedding workout!
I jumped on this bandwagon as well--I've done it 4 times over the past two weeks...I think I'm ready for level 2, but I just need to work on consistency!
So I took a couple days off from the Shred. Aunt Flow was visiting if you know what I mean. I'm a real drag when it comes to that. Anywho, I'm back on today. I felt good and back to normal with it.
I started doing the shred last week. Wow, all I can say is, Jillian Michaels will KICK YOUR ASS! I was so sore the next day, especially in my thighs, and I think that's mainly due to the lunges that she makes you do. I'm still on level 1 and it'll be awhile until I'm on level 2, but I'm taking baby steps to ensure that I don't keel over! If you're looking for a workout tape unlike any other, go to Target or Amazon and get the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. I have 6 months until my wedding, but I am getting so worried that the dress I bought when we first got engaged won't fit me. I have to start doing it every single day to see the results that I need to see (especially my arms, which I am getting really nervous about).
I used to shred all the time and noticed results right away but I've gotten so lazy. I need to get back into it. When I was doing it, I did Level 2 the most and found it to be just right. I love it because it's such a quick workout, but so effective!
Thanks to this little thread, Jillian's got an extra 14 bucks in her pocket. :o)
I bought the DVD today and couldn't wait to start. I run and lift regularly, a routine that hasn't changed much in the past three years. I have a feeling this is just the swtich-up that I need. Thanks, girls!
just bought the dvd, as well. i got it for $8 on half.com. where did everyone buy their hand weights?
I bought the DVD... I LOVE IT! am on day 5 of level 1 but not feeling sore after my workout so I think it is time for me to move to level 2. I am hoping this will help me lose the inches!! I am also doing weight watchers and am dropping some weight.
I do not own the DVD but I have on demand which has level 1 and 2. I love it! I wish I could move up to level 3 but to make it harder I just use 10 pound weights and make sure I do all the explosive movements and none of the modifications. I swear those 20 minutes seem so much harder than the 2 hours I spend at the gym. It is a great supplement for the days I can't make it to the gym or don't feeling like driving over there.
Jillian is so motivating an inspiring...good luck with it you will be one level 2 in no time!
i just stepped up to level 2 (on my 5th day) and it *kicked* *my* *butt*. i ended up doing the level 1 cardio moves a lot instead of level 2, because i'm still having a hard time holding plank position. FI says he's noticing changes in my upper body already, but i think that's just because my arm muscles feel "flexed" from being sore and cramped. i think i've done more pushups in the last week than the entire rest of my life put together.
For those of you stuck on level 2, I suggest trying level 3. I find it's actually easier than level 2 for the most part. All the plank stuff in level 2 really starts to hurt. The jumping lunges are the hardest part, but boy do you feel good after you finish a set of those, lol.
I alternate levels 2 and 3 since I find they're both challenging in different ways.
I bought my hand weights from Amazon. The ones I got qualified for free shipping so it was great. I alternate between 3, 5 and 8 pound weights. Jillian kicks my ass but I have been on Level 1 for about 8 days now so I think I will give Level 2 a try this afternoon. I am a little nervous about it because I have heard everyone talk about how difficult it can be BUT I am excited to move up. I also jog on the treadmill for about 10-15 minutes before I start the Shred. I think it helps warm me up more. I'm already sweating by the time I get started!! I am SO ready to see some changes in my body. I still have a while before the wedding so I am hoping that this will not only help to get me in great shape for the wedding but also help with an overall lifestyle change. My sister started working out before her wedding and now she has been married for about a year and still works out every day.
You girls inspired me. I got the shred on netflix and the FI and I have started working out together. It's great, except when we loose focus from laughing
WalMart has the cheapest hand weights. Buying on-line the shipping could get expensive! I have 5 and 8 pound weights and will probably move up from 5 to 8 next week. 3 pound weights might be a good place for someone to start if they are not usually lifting weights.
The shred is great! Bought it two weeks ago and have used 4 times on top of my normal workout routine. Doing it in the am and sweating like crazy before my morning shower. Love that it is only 20 minutes. Bought mine on Amazon for $9, think it was $12 with the shipping. Best workout video I have ever purchased and I have plenty:) Still on level 1 and plan to move to level 2 next week.
I highly recommend.
Thanks ladies. I'm gonna go try this. I'm also starting a diet at the same time so hopefully I'll look a bit more toned around the midsection by my wedding.
I'm so happy to hear more people have jumped on the bandwagon. I had a freak accident with a lizard yesterday (LONG STORY) and hurt my calf muscle, so I'm out of commission for a few days and its killing me not being able to work out. Even though the wedding is in 4 months (exactly from yesterday), I need all the days I can to work out. I hope when I get back to Level 1, that I'll be able to move to Level 2, I can't say that I've been sore after any of my workouts, but the planks sure scare me
@ imLissy - thanks for the tip - I tried Level 3 today and while it was harder, it was also easier because I have carpal tunnel and all those planks in level 2 were starting to really hurt my hand! I was sticking with Anita for most of it, and had to sub in some of the level 2 cardio, but it wasn't so awful! It actually went by faster than usual because I was so curious as to what was next that I forgot to keep track of what circuit we were on.
I'm on day 2 and I'm sore from level 1 yesterday!!
I love the spirit tho. It's definitely encouraging to know other people are doing it too.
Have you guys tried "Boost Metabolism" and "No More Trouble Zones" I do those two as well as the 30 day shred since they are free on Comcast On Demand. Both are 45 minutes long and definitely worth while and challenging. I like to mix it up because doing level 2 all the time would get boring.
@Aerika I know what you mean about laughter while working out together. My FI and I worked out together a bit this winter. The first time he came out to do the video I had, he was in.....a union suit (one piece pajamas with the butt flap on them they were red) A knit hat and tennis shoes. I almost died I was in sweats and sneakers....but a union suit c'mon lol. I hate to work out alone, but I just moved to La Crosse and I havn't met any friends yet....some day maybe :-)
Good Luck everyone with your fitness plans.
So what kind of results are you guys seeing? Everyone is just saying what shreds and levels they've done. :)
Results:
I used to be a fast-pitch pitcher...and my arm is getting back to how it was back in the day. Unfortunately, my left arm is making slow progress as it isn't my dominant arm, but I can certainly see improvement there, too. In addition to my biceps and around my shoulders, I can see the outline of my triceps more when I flex a little and my abs are tighter (I sometimes convince myself I can see definition). My legs were already decently defined from running so I don't know if that is making a difference. Like I said, I also run/jog and have for awhile now, so this is just a great way for me to tone up since I hate doing it in the gym. If you didn't notice above, I only Shred a couple times a week.
On an unrelated note, I think I'm going to start adding some extra push-ups after I'm done (later in the day!) cause I'd like to build up my arms more. I'd also like to add more cardio to my week, but not too much because my knees sometimes act up.
Overall, I feel better toning up and am glad I bought it.
I have been shredding consistently (nearly every day) since September and have seen huge changes, especially in my arms and gut. Keep it up! You will not regret it, Jillian is great.
