As you know, I just had two babies by c-section within 21 months, and am on a quest to get my pre-baby body back. I will admit right away, nature has been very generous with me, as I am already at my pre-second-pregnancy weight and my goal is to lose those last 7 pounds that I had kept from my first pregnancy, plus 3 pounds to make it an even 10.
I am on mat leave, but keep in touch with people at my office. And they have setup a Biggest Loser competition. And I decided to join. Yay!
Now my question is this. I am thin and only have 10 pounds to lose – at 5’5” I weight 135 and want to get down to 125. I am usually pretty fit, but I haven’t worked out at all for the past 3 months. So I lost some muscle mass.
I do want to tone up, of course, but I also want to win this competition, so I want to exercise (will be cleared to do so from doc in 2 days, since my daughter is now 6 weeks old) in a way that will help me shed the pounds, not gain muscle weight.
I was all psyched to start the 30 day shred program, but I worry that it could make me tone up (yay!) but also gain weight? For the sake of winning the competition and losing those stubborn 10 pounds, should I stick with just cardio?
What’s your take on weight loss with the Shred?

@mommytobee: I loved it. I only made it into level 2 of Shred because I started falling off the wagon due to summer cookouts, BUT I lost inches likes crazy. I did tone up as well.
I didn’t lose much weight on it to be honest. Mostly inches, which was important to me, but every body is different. Some women will lose a good amount of weight doing it.
I wouldn’t refrain from doing it. It all depends on how your body responds to it, but mind made a mjaor transformation after just a few weeks.

I did it and loved it. I lost 5 pounds which isn’t to much but lost a bunch of inches. I didn’t change my diet too much so I think if you did you could lose more.

@mckeestephanie: Unfortunately there’s not much I can change about my diet… I already eat very clean, gluten free and low cal… I’m breastfeeding and lowering my calories even more could hurt my supply, and again.. already eating really healthy – I don’t know where to cut!

@mommytobee: Yeah that makes sense. The inches were great to lose though and I fit into my clothes better.

congrats on your babies! 🙂 i’m doing the 30DS now, and i love it! i plan to do a month of level 1, then a month of 2, then 3 (that way it will take me through the end of the year without getting too bored of it. i also add in jillian’s 6 week 6 pack every other day for extra oomph. i can already tell a big difference in how my clothes fit (my pants are loose today! 🙂 ) and it’s only 20 minutes (40 on double days) a day so i can’t even talk myself out of it, lol.

@mommytobee: I actually gained weight, but lost a TON of inches! After I have this baby in May I definitely plan on doing it again! I’ll probably follow with Ripped in 30. I LOVE Jillian!

I just completed my 4th day of it! I can ALMOST get through level one without stopping. A couple more days and I should be golden, then i move on to level 2! Haven’t noticed a difference yet, but I’m only 4 days in, so we’ll see!

Ok so I just completed the 30 day shred this morning. I worked 6 days per week, and completed my workouts in the mornings. No day off except for the planned one and I pushed as hard as I could every time – at the end I went back to the modified, easier version of some moves because my knees were hurting.
I toned up, but did not lose weight. I have to say that unfortunately, my diet hasn’t been perfect – I eat good foods, but probably too much because I am breastfeeding and starving… Plus the fact that I am home and that food is always available didn’t help.
So I won’t be winning my work challenge, but I’m happy about the achievement of completing the workout and I feel so much stronger.
So… On to Ripped in 30 now!
