I decided to start a new thread as the other one was really long!
Here is a new start for a new fitness program!
A few of us are starting the 30 day shred this week and are going to help keep eachother accountable.
Please feel free to join in!!!!
Here I go for DAY 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My goals are to lose 10 pounds so that I can happily purchase the dress of my dreams in a size smaller than I am currently (That way there are less alterations later - when I lose another 10
)
What are your goals???
I'm all done with the wedding, but I need to lose the honeymoon weight and get back onto the fitness horse. I'll join!
I was doing really well with the Shred for a couple weeks... then fell off the wagon. Crap! lol! It's so much easier to justify skipping exercise after a hard day at work. I've been thinking I should try a new routine and do the workout first thing in the morning... anybody's thoughts? What time of day works best for you?
Oh, and my goal is 30 pounds by my 30th birthday! Four months to go... I'm hovering right around a 7-8 pound loss so far, so I really need to keep working. Consistency has always been my main battle!
I'm in, I fell off the wagon when I got sick on Saturday, still sick but I'd like to start up again tomorrow, maybe if I have someone to be accountable to I'll be more likely to do it!!!
Great!!!!! It's nice to have people to do it with so that when we come on to this post we can motivate eachother!
I just finished Day 1 Level 1 - wow it is a good workout!
I found the push-ups really hard because I am still sore from my chest work-out in the gym on Monday!!!!
@NC Girl - I usually work out in the evenings because Mr. M and I have different schedules and so I am usually alone in the evenings - today I did it in the morning because I have to teach a night class tonight!
@FutureMrsTal - DO IT!!! You will feel better after you do!!!!!!! I am here to keep you accountable!
Hi Ladies!
Can you tell me a little about the "30 day shred" what does it consist of, where do I order it from, cost etc. I need to stop procrastinating and get busy if I am going to tone up and lose 20 pounds before my May wedding! Thank you!
I'm not on Shred, but I'm on the EJS "one month to lose it" plan. I'm totally in hyperdrive right now, just like I was pre-wedding!
I want to get back down to 160-165 lbs, 22% body fat, and lose some of my muffin top that is super squishy right now. I also want to make it through an entire abs class without taking a break. I'm so not there yet!
I did it today! I couldn't breath in parts (because I'm so stuffed up still) but I finished it all and feel great about getting back on the wagon! Yay for accountability!
@wennies3- the shred can be bought almost anywhere but I think amazon.com has the best price for it, you also need hand weights (whatever weight you're comfortable with, my suggestion is to start small and work your way up) and a mat if you are working out on a hard surface. It consists of 3 workout levels starting with the lowest at 1, each level is then broken up into 3 circuts, each circut is 6 minutes long and consists of 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs. It's designed to be used for 30 days to get you in shape, I think 10 days at level 1, 10 days at level 2 and 10 days at level 3, but since my wedding isn't until April I'm mixing the shred with EA Sports Active. However, I think I'm going to try to get through an entire month of the shred just to see how I look and feel at the end of it.
just finished day 1! what a great workout. i started on level 2 .
does anyone know of a good diet plan that will compliment this workout plan?
I am currently at 170lbs and I want to lose at least 30lbs by Oct 2010, i need major motivation help :(
I had knee surgery about a year ago and I gained about 40lbs after that. I just want to get back to my healthy weight and I feel like it will never happen. I like to eat and drink and hang out with friends, but I know I need to buckle down and do this!
Thank you Futuremrstal,
That helps alot. I looked on Amazon, there were about 3 with the same name...is this the right one?
@jm-So far my diet has consisted of cutting out all junk food and bulking up on the protein. I don't go through fast food if I do have to grab food on the run, I grab a six inch from subway. If I want something sweet I have the Edy's all natural strawberry pops, salty I go for the mini-bags of popcorn. I just watch what I'm eating and try to limit my portions. I don't know if this helps at all :-(
I am going to join this Shred group! I have 31 days until my wedding. My goal is not necesarily to lose weight, but more to not gain weight and also get my butt out of bed and Shred every morning. I am level 2. I get really bored easily , so I am thinking of muting Jillian and playing my own music!
@jm1773. That has got to be SOOO frustrating to gain weight because of surgery, but I know you can lose it. YOU CAN DO IT! I know it!
People say swimming is really good after knee surgery.
So the best way to lose weight is to cut calories and excercise....and it totally sucks. The cutting calories more than the exercise
I go through phases of cutting out soda of my diet completely and trying to drink water instead (I still drink coffee though). It really helps cut empty calories, AND it helps me feel better during my workouts. Perrier is also a good replacement for soda if you like the bubbles!
There is a cool program called Sparkpeople.com. It is social networking but they also have a very good calorie counter and it has many brand name things in there. People can enter calories, so you have to be careful that they did it correctly but usually it is close enough to being right. They have suggested meal plans but I basically ignore those and just type in what I eat and count the calories.
why aren't my posts showing up? i replied to the board after coloradobride and its gone now....weird!
it happened on another thread too...
I have been doing the shred for a little over a week and already see results. Just doing level one every morning or night...and if I have time I'll tack on a few minutes of level 2 to make it a 30 minute workout. I missed a few days, but that's ok.
Tomorrow will start level 2...then my goal for the last week before I head out of town before my wedding is to do levels 1 and 2 together every day. phew!
I've attached a picture..is this the video that you gals are doing? I want to order it but I want to make sure it's the right one :)
As far as diet goes I am doing WW right now!
I lost 20 pounds on it last year and I like how it makes calorie counting easy! But I have to become a little more strict about keeping my points down! I love food
ive been doing it for the past few days-but we keep going out of town for the weekend which throws me off! its definitely getting easier!
@ ColoradoBride... Oh, I absolutely mute Jillian (no offense to her!) and play my own music. I stay much more motivated that way and it seems to go faster. Especially during the moments when I'm thinking "C'mon... you can make it through two measly minutes of cardio!" LOL!
DAY 2 DONE!!!!!
It was good - I changed up some exercises to make the routine a little bit more balanced and I increase the intensity of the abs and it made the workout better!
I usually get bored REALLY easily so I like that the work-out is only 20 min - that is my motivation to get through it!
I'm a little late to the party, but I'm in! I have been the biggest workout slacker EVER the past month since school has started and I feel gross. I figure I can't really make an excuse not to get up 30 minutes early to workout in my own home, especially during a non-exam week.
So I guess tomorrow will be my first workout! I will have to remember to check in and report how it went.
Oh my goodness, I only made it through half of the workout today because I had my pilates class this morning and I was sooooo sore!!! I'm a little disappointed, but Im going to try it again a little later tonight!
Hey! Just found this thread, and I'm so happy to have done so! I just bought the Shred, and started it yesterday. Holy moly - I THOUGHT I was in decent shape, but Level 1 about killed me! :) Doing it again tonight!
I am sooo disappointed! I had an food related allergy attack last night and so today I am in bed with a migraine! And I have sooo much to do - including Day 3!
Hopefully I will feel better and be able to do it tonight!
Day two was yesterday and I did it, gonna do day 3 today in about 20 minutes. I think I'm going to start the couch to 5k program tomorrow (or today if I'm really feeling up to it!) I love this thread!
Alright I need accountability. I started the 30 day shred and just as I type this my muscles are spasiming and I feel faint. I am going to mix up a protein shake in a moment since I am sure I am just low on calories.
I thought two things reading the shred posts... 1) how can anything that is only 20 minutes a day make you loose 20lbs in 30 days? Well now I know... 2) really how horrible could it be - everyone was complaining? Well now I know just how awful it is...
I am going to see my future in laws in 4 weeks and meet others in the family. I was in great shape and thin when I first met his parents but 3 years later I was sick and about to have surgery when I saw them again and met his sister for the first time - I had gained 30lbs during the illness and while still in the normal healthy range I feel gross. I must loose at least 13lbs before I get there but would love to lose 20lbs. I am having my dress custom made and would like to be back to my 30lb thinner self by mid December for measurements so I am hoping this is all enough motivation.
Ladies keep me accountable here....
I was always eatting fast food and stuff as I would run around like crazy. My diet started 3 days ago and it seems to be working. For chocolate cravings I got atkins chocolate coconut snack bars - like a candy bar but only 100 calories and very few carbs. Then I picked up a protein shake mix for a quick breakfast and stocked my fridge with fruit and veggies. Finally I just slip a slim fast optima meal replacement drink in my purse and instead of hitting the drive through I just crack open the can.
I know diets are hard but this is pretty satisfying as I am eatting a normal meal for dinner with my FI.
I don't know if this will work because I haven't gained weight from the fast food - my weight gain was 30lbs in 10 days to a particular disorder and the weight just stayed but I think it is a pretty good slimmed down plan. I eat 200cals for breakfast 100 cal snack 200 cal lunch 100 cal snack then 500-600 cals for dinner and 100-200 cals for snack. This makes 1200 - 1400 cals a day for intake. My body needs 1900 a day to run on a sedentary level so at this diet I am loosing a lb of weight a week just from my diet.
Hey September 30 day shred buddies!!
I should be receiving my dvd today and I am VERY excited to start!! The problem is that my bridal shower is tomorrow and I want to be able to enjoy it and not think about how sore I am. I don't want to be too behind from you guys b/c most of you are like on day 3 or 4...anyway, what do you guys think?
Also, are we keeping each other accountalbe with what we eat?
Ok so I came on here again and it motivated me to do Day 3 even though I have a migraine and I think it made it worse not better - oops! But now at least I don't feel guilty!
WELCOME to all the newcomers - this is a great motivational thread!
@Joyousbride - if you have been doing some sort of exercise recently you won't be so sore you won't enjoy your shower - but if you haven't been to active maybe you should start Day 1 tomorrow night after the shower!?!?!?!!?!?
I find that this thread does help me to stick to my healthy eating plan too - That is my downfall every time!
I failed at workingout the last 2 days....I am just so tired, that I can't get up at 5:45 am. There is no time afterwork either. Is anyone else getting up early to work out?
so no real pain after about 2 hours after and went to work for 9 hours with no pain. ready for day 2 tomorrow!!!!!!
yay my 30 day shred came today. I do have a question, does it matter if you workout at different times each day bc with my schedule I can't do everyday at the same time and is it ok to workout at night? (7:30 ish) I know they say you shouldn't workout within 3 hours of bedtime but I usually go to bed much later anyway. I am going to start this weekend bc I am not trying on dresses until I lose a couple or at least tone up :)
Hi there!! I just checked in with the old thread after taking a little break...to pick up my marriage license and veil. Plus I had a fieldtrip the day after and I was BEAT!! Anyway...I'm ramping up for level 2. I know all you good girls will be doing this everyday but man, it's hard to stick to. I've done it a total of about 10 times (I know not the best at accountability) in the past 25 days or so. I know you guys will do better than me. I notice on days I don't want to do it or think about it, I don't check this thread. (BAD!) but those are the days when I totally need it the most. Cheers to those of you starting this fast, results driven workout. The premise for those of you still wondering if you should buy is 3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio and 1 minute of abs and repeat variations in 'circuits' (cycles). This is great stuff for the amount it takes. I've been to a trainer and he uses similar moves. Here's a tip...get good sized weights for better results. (I have 6 lb with average athletic background...my hard core friend has 10 lbs on each side and my friend who is not very athletic is using water bottles but she is not seeing results yet.) Remember, a nutritional change is a huge part of this. Eat breakfast and drink plenty of water during the day!! I'll post this on the other thread too...Sorry for not checking in consistently! (I'm twenty days away from the wedding...you'll understand soon enough!!)
@coloradobride...let's not give up..i know i should do it in the morning too....haven't got motivated to wake up early yet... :i
KDavis0614- I don't think it matters if you do it at the same time everyday. I think it just matters that you do it everyday. Goodluck.
So I woke up this morning sore and a little cranky about it - felt nothing yesterday at all but now hurt. I went downstairs and put the dvd in and got started. The FI who was curled up with his computer told me not to do it since I was sore but I informed him it was everyday for 30 days and got started before anything on my saturday could deter me. Was easier today, DAY 2, and felt less sore afterward - happy I did it. Hoping I will stick to it tomorrow when I have church, a bridal expo, and a huge special sale at my favorite store.
So, I know that it says to do it every day, but I meet some girlfriends at the gym twice a week, and don't want to overload myself. (I'm prone to working out really hard, then quitting because it hurts.) I don't have a deadline or a specific amount of weight to lose - I just want to feel better and be in shape, so here's my question:
do you guys think I will still get the full benefit of this program if I just do it every other day? I'm pretty active, so it's not like I'll just be sitting around the days that I don't do it, but I'll just give those muscles a day to heal.
On another note, does anyone else's calves hurt like a mother-f'er?!? I didn't know you could work those things so hard! :)
So just finished Day 4 - I did it right after cleaning my whole house (I was always blast music and dance when I clean so it's a workout) so I had a super workout today!
Today I muted Jillian and kept blasting my music and it pumped me up and made me jump higher and squat lower!!!!!
@Rocktsrgn - I think every other day with other exercise will have the same effect - but remember you are using all your muscle groups in the shred so no matter what exercise you do on your "off" day you won't be resting them fully! And I can see how your calfs would hurt from all the jumping if you don't usually jump during your exercise routine!!!!
So I decided to start today!! I had an amazing bridal shower yesterday and I ate like crazy!! :( but I really enjoyed it all. No more of that!! My wedding is 55 days away!
So "30 day shred" - Day 1 here I come!! I'm a little behind you guys but that's okay. My goal is to gain muscle and lose stomach fat. I'm excited! I will most definitely need support and motivation though.
@Mrs. Martin..wow! great job finishing day 4! You're a great motivation.
Congrats at starting today JoyousBride!!!
I am glad I serve as motivation - but you just motivated me - I was going to take today off because Sunday's are the ONLY days FI and I have together but seeing you call me great motivation made me feel guilty and it is only 20min right? So here I go for Day 5!!!!!
Edited to Add: Finished Day 5 - Feel so much better that I did it - Thanks JoyousBride!!!!
How is everyone else doing? How are you guys getting motivated on the weekends????
