A few days ago I posted this thread about a bra for my ILLUSION BACK (see below for pic) dress http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/whats-the-best-bra-for-an-illusion-back-dress#axzz2LV0agEw9 and got GREAT advice! Thank you Bees!!
Since most people said to get a longline low back bra, I’ve spent the past two days looking for one. I’ve checked several department stores, a lingerie boutique, Kohls, VS, and Target (knew I wouldn’t find anything there). Tonight I’ve been searching and searching online and STILL can’t find anything. Either the back of the bra comes up too high for the dress or the size isn’t what I need (32dd).
Am I screwed or just not looking in the right place?

Have you thought about getting a strapless bra that fits you well and using a low-back strap? It connects to each side of the back hooks, but you loop it around your belly so it pulls the back of your bra downward while maintaining the fit in the front. It might be a solution, and you can get them pretty much anywhere that sells lingerie and bras. They’re usually pretty cheap (I think the one I linked is $8) and while not the most comfortable thing I’ve ever done, it’s worked for me. I’m the same size as you and I know how irritating it can be finding something that fits.

I have 3 32dd longline bras that I bought from BareNecessities.com that will be arriving tomorrow or Friday. I can tell you which one has the lowest back when I receive them if you’d like?
I have one right now as well, I’ll go double check how low it goes..

Have you asked your seamstress if she can sew in some cups with underwire? I wear a 34DD so I totally feel your pain. I’m actually not wearing a bra because I have an amazing corset on the back of the dress that supports really well.
If your seamstress can’t do anything, here’s one that I found
And also, here’s the link to another thread on the Bee that the girl was facing the same problem. Sounds like Dillards is the place to check!
Mission Impossible: Strapless, Low Back Minimizer Bra in a DD

My seamstress highly recommended the bra route. She said that cups wouldn’t do much because the dress doesn’t have a lot of structure. The strapless bra with the low back strap is something I hadn’t considered, and it might work…assuming that the bra doesn’t slide down (which is unfortunately my experience with strapless bras).

I am a 32DD as well, and i LOVE my backless adhesive bra, but it may depend on what exactly your goals are with wearing a bra here. I have implants, so i don’t really wear it for support, but mainly wear it to conceal my nipples or create a bit of extra cleavage if I want it. I am really not sure what kind of actual support it would give.
Here is the website (which is embarrassingly archaic looking — i have never looked them up online before! ha!)
I have found them randomly in real life in boutique clothing stores and even forever 21 back in the day. the trick is to wash your boobies right before sticking it on, and make sure they are dry and free of lotion or oil or anything like that. When the bra is relatively new it will stick forever, but it doesnt not hurt to pull it off. You can also get multiple uses of of one.
if you do decide to go this route, definitely practice with it a few times to see how it wears and how best to put it on.

I have the Felina: Essentials Seamless Hidden Wire Bustier right now. Back is 7″ tall and I believe that will be too high. I have a 6″ tall back coming in (Dominique: Longline Smooth Strapless Bra) that I’ll try on as soon as I get it.
I don’t know how the front of your dress looks, but you may have to try Va Bien: Convertible Plunge Backless Underwire Bustier. It has a 5″ back (lowest I’ve seen so far) but I believe it only goes up to a 32D. :
If possible, could you get me the measurement of the back of your dress? From the top neckline to where the “solid” part is, so that I can get a general idea.

ekizina – I just did the measurement. It is about 13 1/2 inches. I agree that the first bra you listed won’t work. The front of the dress is below – it isn’t a problem bra-wise except for the shoulders (can’t have straps on the bra). Your help is really appreciated!!

Yeah, the Felina is definitely out then. I wanted to see the front just to figure out fabric. Some longline bras have very noticable boning, so you have to be careful with them or else they’ll show.
As polyblonde said, you could also go with adhesive bras. I had a few nubras when I was a 32c/d and they worked fine.. as long as I didn’t mind a uniboob bounce. You might want to try the backless strapless bra types that have “wings” on the side to prevent what I call “jello jiggle” haha. If you’re dancing, the wings will help greatly. I believe Target actually carries this type of adhesive bra in their bra solutions section. Or if you have a ebay account, get a cheap one from China. 🙂
:edit: Just found this.. It might be crazy enough to work?!

Hey I feel ya, Im the same size and had an illusion back. too. I contacted several places locally who do custom stuff and never got back to me.
I considered this but it wasnt low enough for me, might work for you.
I ended up getting cups sewn in and it did nothing for me.

@HisNightOwl2014: do they sell 32 though? That is a small band size that I wouldnt think LB would sell since they cater to plus size.
