Anyone have the same date? Any special reason you picked this date? We were thinking fall at first, and wanted something around the 23rd because thats our dating anniversary. But nothing in the fall worked for us so we went with Spring because like the fall it would be nice weather...not too cold...not too hot. We also didn't want a date around anyones birthday or a holiday because we wanted to make it our own. Especially because our dating anniversary is near a holiday and it can be a little hectic! However, after we picked out our date and put money down for the vendor...I checked 2011 and our 1st year wedding anniversary falls on EASTER!

Pick me!!!!  We were aiming for late May, but we are using a chapel at a school, and their "long weekend/spring break" is over the 24th - perfect!  No students on campus, and the grounds will be lovely in April, full of flowers and color.  I also don't deal well with heat, and in the muggy Mid-Atlantic area that we are in, things can ehat up fairly early in the season!

I didn't realize that April 24th was Easter in 2011 - eep!  I thought I was clear of Lent and related activities by being so late in April!  Oops!

We're actually planning on taking a cruise (Greece?  Bermuda?  Alaska?  It's up to the soon-to-be hubby...), but we probably won't go *right* after the wedding.  I work for a university and I will have a much easier time getting away once the term is over, so we definitely won't be hitting spring-breakers that way.  Most colleges go on break during the end of March, so if you go during the first week of May you should be fine!  :)  Fingers crossed for you!

We're going dress shopping in May...I'm so excited!! I bought some invitations from Michael's arts and craft store when we first got engaged. I went a little over board with all the wedding stuff the first two months!! I only made one invitation so far just to see how it works! But it came out really nice. I still have to make some phone calls for photographers and a florist and everything. We have the venue booked though...I think we did that within three months! How about yourself? :)

We're really on the ball here, because my lovely mother is a party planner by trade.  (Well, not strictly speaking - she actually is the Executive Director of a non-profit group, but they host so many fundraisers and galas and events that her office is a party-planning-wonderland.)  I have a venue for both the ceremony and the reception, a DJ, photographer, florist, cake lady, and minister ready to go.  I still have a lot of meetings to get through where we can discuss what the FI and I want, but I feel good that so much of it is layed out already!  I'd love to plan 90% of the big day this spring and then relax and forget about it for a few months!

I am so jealous that you;ve gotten a start on your invites!  I am a total paper addict and can't wait to start cutting, printing, and gluing things together.

Interestingly, my photographer said that she's has had 3 other couples enquire about 04-24-10 so we have picked a popular date for some reason - at least in my part of the country!  Bizarre - I thought I had picked a date that was outside of the mainstream wedding season!

YAY!!  My date too!!  We picked it because we wanted may... and the place we wanted to book was completely full for next may, so we picked the last weekend in April!  I'm so excited!  We've rented a bed and breakfast for the entire weekend!  Its a 68 acre farm with a HUGE barn where we can have the wedding if it rains!  (Crossing my fingers for no rain the whole weekend!!)  I'm glad to see other people have alredy done lots of planning...  FI is telling me I"m going to fast... I've already booked the place, booked the band, bought the dress, booked the caterer...  etc..  Anyways... congrats to everyone!!  OH and we're thinking Venice for the honeymoon!!!

My wedding is also April 24th. I can't wait. :) We picked this date because the place we loved had either April 24th or June 26th open. The wedding is in Southern California and the weather gets hot in June. The last thing I wanted was to sweat profusely on my wedding day so we took the April 24th date. What is also cool is that our engagement date was April 25. So our first full day of being husband and wife will be exactly one year from when he proposed. :)

    Hi!

we are getting married on april 24, 2010, also!

i had no idea easter fell on that date the following year -- oh well.

so far we've gotten a lot done:

    • church
    • venue
    • caterer
    • photog
    • dj
    • my dress
    • possible bm dresses
    • cake topper

i meet with my florist on monday. tonight i meet with my sis to check out the craft store.

is anyone else with this date diy-ing it?

also, does anyone else with this date have a work out plan?  i def want to tone up and could use someone to keep me accountable.

@ Weeebs...that is so great about your engagement date! I love it!

@ Nixie...I bought our invitations at Michaels arts and craft store...I love them...they were on sale for $15 dollars for 45 invites. We're only having about 75 people and a lot of people live at the same house. I have been working out since last winter and Ive lost about 50 lbs. My fiance and I both have. We worked out on the tredmills for 30 mins and did some weightlifting like 20lbs for me and more for him! Ive been toning up my arms and my legs. We now have an eliptical machine in our house and Ive been doing that for about 30 mins to an hour at least 3 times a week. Ive also been eating healthier....but still have some ice cream or pizza once in a while! Good luck.

you should at least get date held by the florist you want to use.  they can only do so many events on a date.  make sure you have that confirmed!  good luck!

We are also getting married on april 24th next year but by default. Originally i chose april 3rd bc it was my birthday and my best friend is getting married on the 17th and i wanted that day special for me. but unfortunately the venue was double booked "just like in the movie" but since i changed my date i got the venue for FREE! so overall im happy! and we will have back-to back weddings in april which will be a strain but doable.

things we have done so far:

Venue-park in an amphitheatre overlooking the lake

reception site-at park building as well

    photographer

    dj-just need to book

    cake

    bridesmaid dresses, jewelry and shoes

my dress (yeah and i got it early too bc i couldnt pass up the deal and i love it.

    and some decorations.

Hi Ragincajunbride! You got your bridesmaid dresses too! Im thinking we might have to do some alterations with ours when they come in...but closer to the date. They should be coming in by then end of this month! But my bridesmaids are 12 and 14 and probably still growing! What are your colors? What are all the April brides colors? We're teal and yellow!

This is my date! I picked it because it matched up with my venue the best.

    I have:

    booked church,

    reception (with food),

    swing band,

    photographer.

In progress are the bridesmaid's dresses (had one shopping day so far with no luck), waiting on a quote from a florist, visited a milliner for my headpiece, and we're booking the cars this month at a wedding fair. I have also looked at cakes and know what I'm doing for centerpieces, so those are easy.

    Just eight months to go!

I'm an April 24th bride too! :) We didn't really pick our date for any special reason. Well, I picked April because it was in the spring but as far as the 24th, that was just random lol.

That is so cool that our 1st annies will also be Easter. That is my favorite holiday!Smile

As far as planning goes, I'm kinda slacking on that a bit.... Embarassed

Hi ladies!  I am an April 24, 2010 bride as well.  I guess I do have a bit of a story as to why we picked this date - for as long as I can remember my mom always said to get married the week after Easter because the church is beautifully decorated with flowers.  Well, when my fiance and I were discussing dates his one request was that it wasn't during trout season (my die-hard fisherman).  Which I found out is always the week after Easter!  So we went with the third weekend after Easter of next year and the church will still be decorated.  I guess that was the first compromise of the marriage haha.  I have all the big things taken care of so far and now it's just the DIY-ing and little details.  We still have lots of time but doesn't it seem like it will sneak up on you fast?

How is everyone else's planning going?

I'm an April 24th bride too! My fiancé was dead set on a spring wedding, which worked fine for me too, as my cousin's getting married in July 2010 and since I'm my cousin's MOH and vice versa, I didn't want to pick a date too close to her wedding. May was another option, but being the thrifty person that I am, I preferred late April over May, as the venue we chose offers a 20% discount in the low season, which lasts until the end of April - score! And it never occurred to me that our first anniversary would fall on Easter, but now that you guys mentioned it, I think that's kind of cool!

This is my wedding date too!  Here's a question for all of you.  The shop that I bought my wedding dress from has now gone out of business (thankfully my dress arrived in their last week of business and ironically on my birthday!)  The seamstress who used to work there is now working out of her home and I really liked her so I am still going to use her for my alterations, which should be pretty minimal.

When are you guys going for your first fitting?  I wasn't sure how much time I should give and don't want to go too early just in case my weight fluxuates.

So far things are going really well.  We have our outfits, venue, caterer, dj, photographer/videographers, invites, programs, save the dates, make-up, and hair all set.  But now it's all about ironining out all the details which seem to be endless!  I actually live in Philly (but am getting married in Connecticut), out of curiousity where are you getting your dress altered? I wanted to have some alternatives in case mine doesn't work out.

We have the venue, photographer, videographer, dj, sent out the save the dates, officiant, bridesmaid dresses. I bought some invitations at Michaels...but Im going to get a new printer before I put them together. What are you doing for invitations? What are your colors?

Hey 4/24/2010 brides! I need some advice. FI and I originally wanted to get married on 4/24/2010, but we were kind of lazy in planning and before we knew it, four couple friends (yes, FOUR!) were getting married in March/April 2010.  We were sad, but we knew it would be insane if kept the date, so we changed our date to August 2010 but still haven't done any concrete planning (putting down deposits, etc.).  Well, I found out that one of the couples decided to move their date up, so we are now reconsidering 4/24.  Here's my question:  would it be impossible for us to plan a wedding in this short amount of time? Venue won't be an issue because we have one in mind and it's not booked for that date. But as far as all of the other decisions (photogs, flowers, dress, invites, etc.) are concerned, do you think we'll be way in over our heads if we aim for an April 2010 wedding at this point in time?

Hi fellow 4/24/10 brides!  We picked this date because it is exactly 1 yr from our engagement.  I originally wanted to elope, but got convinced to do the real thing cause both sets of parents eloped... so we finally started planning in October.  So far we have done the following:

    • booked church and reception
    • bought wedding dress
    • booked band
    • interviewed photographers and videographers (boy, are they expensive!)
    • checked out wedding bands (jewelry)
    • had the bridesmaids try on possible dresses
    • almost completed our website
    • in the process of addressing Save the Dates

We still have a lot to do!  I look forward to sharing the experience with the hive (I just joined wedding bee and am having oodles of fun!).

We are also getting married on 4/24/10. Originally we wanted to get married in March but because of work we decided April would work. Our first pick in April was 4/10 but plans feel through with that date, then we looked at 4/17 but one of FI friends was getting married that day so we chose 4/24 and now I'm in love with the date....he he.

    Happy Planning and Congrats Everyone!

    Congrats to all!!!

Hello to all 4/24/10 Brides!! Congrats to all !!! We are all so close to our wedding exactly 4 months away!! I am super excited! We actually picked our date based on the original location that we were choosing for our venue but we ended up switching venues and we had already booked the date with our church. It also happens to be one month after our 3 year first date anniversary.I am so happy so many people chose this date we have a lot to share after our weddings!

Congrats again to all and good luck with the wedding planning.
