After nearly 7 years… we are finally engaged! (and I “won” waiting list roulette!!)
A few weeks ago, he booked a Saturday trip to visit Michigan State University. I graduated from there 3 years ago and have been dying to go back, see whats new and visit all the old spots. I had a feeling something was up because when he booked the hotel room, he booked a more expensive “luxury” room, instead of the cheapest one available…lol It was very hard to not show how nervous I was…. I didn’t want to ruin it for him.
The day started with a walk down Grand River to have dinner at Peanut Barrel. The bar is known for their long islands (one of my favorite) and they actually place a Limit 2 on the drinks because they tend to be strong.
After dinner/drinks, we headed out to walk around campus. My SO did not attend the school so I had to be the one to decide where to go. We spent a good hour and a half strolling the sidewalks and feeding squirels and ducks. Years ago, I showed him my favorite spot on campus. It is a woodsy area by the library with a single bench. SO mentioned that we need to go to the bench, for sure. I knew at that moment, that is where he was planning on proposing.
Nearing the bench, I tried so hard not to give away that I was on to anything. We were sitting down for just a few minutes and he was nervously tapping his hand on the bench behind me.
He began by saying how much we have grown together these past years… I got my liscense, we graduated college, started our careers, bought a house together, etc. He said he cant remember anything without me in it and never wants to. “I should have done this 2 years ago…but I’m doing this now”, and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I started crying mid-speech and really dont remember if I choked out a “yes” or not (he says I did though lol).
I am so happy that we can begin this exciting next chapter of our lives together.

Thank you all for the support throughout the past year. I am going to miss the waiting bee gals… good luck everyone 🙂
