SO popped the question! He absolutely surprised me, as he continuously told me it wouldn’t be until October!
Tuesday. SO, his dad, mom, grandma, and myself were going to help SO move into his new apartment for graduate school about three hours from where we lived. I was waiting at his parents house for the rest of the cars to get ready to go, when a phone call comes in. Nobody answered it and it went to the answering machine, which was very loud. It was FedEx, confirming that a package had been dropped off at the FedEx office near his new apartment. I wrote down the tracking number in a word document, as I was on my computer, and gave it to him when he came back inside. When I asked him what it was, he told me that it was his cable box for his new place. Of course, I believed him.
We move him in completely on Tuesday, and his parents leave that night, and he and I spend the first night in his new apartment, enjoying each other’s company and some wine.
Wednesday. We had been planning on going to the zoo that day, so I had gotten mostly ready, but then it decided to rain. Canceling the zoo trip, I changed into my frumpy clothes to just relax and organize the new apartment, knowing I’d have to leave the next day.
He decides we need to go to the store to pick up some more food and organizational things.
“I’ll go get your jewelry, you stay here.” He sat me down couch. I, of course, didn’t listen to him.
I followed him into the bedroom where the jewelry was sitting on the dresser. He grabs my jewelry, except for the tiny diamond ring he bought me for valentine’s day.
“Don’t forget my diamond!”
And then he drops to his knee, and fumbles in the pocket of his cargo shorts, and pulls out the box.
As he is dropping to his knee, I just blurt out, “You’re joking! This is a joke! Stop it!” As he had assured me that this was absolutely NOT happening until after his brother’s wedding.
“Cornmuffin, [insert sweet words here]. I love you, will you marry me?”
I was instantly crying when his knee his the ground, which I absolutely did not expect, as I had been waiting for him to propose, and we had been discussing the wedding for about three weeks (like, planning the wedding).
My eyeliner was not waterproof and it went into my eyes, and all down my face, and I couldn’t even see the ring until he dragged me into the bathroom and cleaned my face.
We’re both shaking. I said yes, and he put the ring on my finger and then we just couldn’t stop laughing! It was absolutely perfect!
Of course, I think I’m going to need some recomendations for some good waterproof mascara… So if any Bees know some good stuff, I’m all ears!
