I happen to have a Moissanite ring too that I got as a graduation gift. I’m not sure its weight but it’s 1 or more carats. I show it next to the .48 ct diamond described above. Both rings are 5.5. Having compared both in person–here is my advice: I honestly think that a .50 to .70 moissy looks like a diamond. The larger moissy shown below reflects a lot of color (fire). It reflects like a disco ball–so it does not look like a diamond. I opted for a .5 carat solitaire diamond because I think a stone bigger than say .75 ia a bit gaudy for me. That only applies to me. My FI knew I wanted something classy, understated and delicate. He also knew that bigger is not necessarily better. Upgrading later is a perfectly rational choice–as a young couple (speaking for myself) it’s understood that our priorities are buying real estate, paying student loan debt and traveling– not buying expensive diamonds LOL. I say all that and I don’t even know how much my FI spent–YIKES. I know it will probably make me shudder. good luck and congrats

@karissa_elaine:  Good for you!!! Congrats!!! Try to get it in a gold setting if possible. I had a rhodium plated ring–not a Moissy unfortunatley but Swarovsky–as a retainer ring for the first 6-7 months of my engagement. Oh I loved that ring. The stones loosened up pretty quickly so I could not wear it 24/7. A jeweler told me that gold settings tend to be sturdier–I bet it all depends thoughCool

I think I barely make it with a 0.71 ct center stone =)
