I am planning a 5 year vow renewal ceremony for August 2013, but don’t know where to begin. When my husband proposed to me in 08 we started to plan our wedding, but due to finances we decided to go to the courthouse instead. I am very much aware that some say that we should not do it as if we are getting married for the first time, but I am still going to go all out. I will have a gown, walk down the isle etc… I wanted to know if anyone else went to the courthouse first then at a later date had a ceremony, and if you did what all did you include and exclude….Also needing some help with a venue in atlanta that is aroud the same price range as Vecoma at the Yellow River or less that does outdoor ceremonies. Thanks

I just did a vow renewed for a couple. They had only been married for 4 months. They eloped in a private ceremony close to where they currently live in Nevada. But they renewed their vows in Oregon close to the bride’s family.
What they included –
She wore a colored ballgown, not a wedding dress. He wore a suit with a tie matching her dress. Flower girls were in cute little spring dresses.
She carried a small bouquet of two roses.
They had a open bar
Then a nice dinner
and lastly the cake cutting
The venue was a private meeting room/bar at the Hotel Oregon. They had about 40 guests and it was a beautiful ceremony and reception.

I’m doing this. Pretty much the same situation. We eloped to the courthouse, and we are planning a party/5 year vow renewal. It will be very laid back, probably a picnic outside at my father’s vacation house. I will not be wearing white. I haven’t figured much else out other than that.

Thanks for the input guys, I was really lost about what to do…. My next major battle is agreeing on at least 1 thing with my husband, our tastes are so different, I like to jazz things up and he is boring and bland with no taste… lol
