I'm planning to grow 12 wheatgrass centerpieces for our reception and hope to add spray roses, gerbera daisies and other flowers to make it look like a small garden on each table.
Just wondering if any of you in the hive have done this and how easy it was. I have grand dreams but I know myself and if things get too complicated as we get close to the wedding, I may just go with vases of flowers.
Any pictures of your successful centerpieces would be MUCH appreciated!
Hi Michelle....I saw something on MarthaStewart.com...it was what stovks wrapped in a ribbon and it had step by step directions on how to make them.....=)
I wanted to see how your wheatgrass was going. I too have decided to use wheatgrass as my center pieces. Right now I am growing the grass in plastic trays and I will add grebers to them when we get to the reception. I wanted to know what you are putting the grass in?
I have seen pails, glass vases, or just open with some ribon tied around. What are you doing.
Oh yes, yes, yes! We did this and it was wonderful! We only did long window boxes along our buffet tables but it was so easy (trust me, if I can do it ANYONE can do it!) Here's where we ordered the kit from
We got enough for the two large window boxes (two trays each) and a practice tray out of this one starter kit. $33 isn't bad! And here's how it came out. My fiance made the window boxes that we put them in.
I found square glass vases in the 6x6 or 8x8 depending on what you are looking for at Flowersandsupplies.com. I think they were reasonably priced. I am using the wheatgrass for the place cards as well. I will have a tray or two of the grass and put the place cards in the grass as well to kinda tie it all together. See Below... I may use smaller sticks though.
Hi Ladies! I'm so glad to hear from all you! We are planning to use 20 inch trays from Joann Fabrics to grow the wheatgrass in (I wish I could find a picture for you all!) I'm using the picture below as inspiration and hope my turns out just like this:

Bonniebell your wheatgrass looks great btw!

Do you suggest starting the growing process about 10 out? We ordered the wheatgrass from wheatgrasskits.com and can't wait to get started!
