I know classical music or "Here Comes the Bride" works for many, but I just wanted something more meaningful to us and sounded more pleasant than, "Dun-dun-dun-dun..."
We hired our DJ to do a separate set-up for the ceremony to play the songs we wanted for processional/recessional and my walk. We picked fun songs like Lauryn Hill's "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" for the BMs when they were walking down the aisle, and it really set the tone that we wanted...upbeat, fun and all about love!
"I Love N.Y.E." by Badly Drawn Boy. A string quartet played before the start of the ceremony and for the cocktail hour following - but I have always thought this was the most beautiful piece of instrumental music, like, ever. Had to use it.
that's awesome!! i had never heard it until the violinist mentioned it.. our ceremony is in a civil war fort, so i was worried she was going a little too war on me but it's a BEAUTIFUL song!
Missrae- I'm actually getting married in Phoenicia, NY which is right near the town of Ashokan that inspired the song. You should look up the meaning behind the song- it wasn't written during the Civil War, it was written in the 90s (I think) at the end of a music camp run by the composer! I chose it, not only because it's beautiful, but that area of the Catskill Mountains is very special to me and the song evoked that sentiment for me. But I think that's an awesome choice for a wedding in a Civil War fort!
I'm walking down to At Last by Etta James in an instrumental version. I really love the song and didn't want to go with the traditional canon d or the bridal chorus. I feel like this is just much more ME
My bridal party walked down to "Sigh No More, Ladies" from Much Ado About Nothing (anyone in the audience who remembered the lyrics probably got a snicker out of it), and I walked down to the theme from "The Princess Bride." All on the harp.
My processional was to "We Must Be in Love" by PureSoul. It epitomized everything I felt and I loved that it was from a woman's perspective on her wedding day.
our bridal party (my mom & grandma, grooms parents, groom, best man, flower girl and ring bearer) all walked down to
Landon Pigg - "Falling in Love at a coffee shop"
and I and my Dad walked down to "Say" by John Mayer. (i'm a John Mayer freak- its not very wedding like at all- but the guitar in the beginning is soooo lovely and perfect for the wedding we had)
"Love Fire" by Simply Red. A beautiful and sexy song. My fiance knew that when he proposed that this was a non-negotiable. Will play song for the bridal party at the rehearsal dinner so they know the beat (it's a little different from what they may expect)
For our ceremony, we're going pretty traditional, so the bridal party is walking in to Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, I'm walking in to Pachelbel Canon in D (I learned to play this on the clarinet in the 7th grade and knew I wanted to walk down the aisle to it when I got married - I didn't realize then that it was so popular - oh well!) and we're walking out to Handel's Hornpipe.
Alright Hive!
What song did you pick to walk down the aisle to?
