Bees, I really need you.
I had my first US yesterday. First abdominally, where you could def see the sac but not much else. When they turned on the colorful part (excuse my ignorance) I saw what looked like pulsing colors the size of a pea which im assuming was the sac, no clue what that meant.
Then they did a transvaginal US where the tech found the yolk sac no problem and thought she saw a fetal pole. She was unable to measure it and couldn’t detect a heart beat at that time. She said it was just too small and that I should come back in a week or two. She said also everything appeared to be developing normally and I looked more like I was in my fifth week. Which I guess could be possible because my cycles are 28 to 36 days in length.
Forgot to mention, last period was may 6th so thworks slid make me 6weeks, but due to my cycles I could be less
Please give me any info you can bees! I just want to know something at this point!

Just commenting to follow since I’m having a similar experience.

I honestly wouldn’t worry. 5w5d is very early to have an U/S. Sometimes the U/S machines are off by 1-2 days. I bet if you go back at 7-8 weeks you’ll see A LOT more. This is why I personally waited until I was 8 weeks to have an U/S. Early on it’s much harder to see anything.

During my first ultrasound (I don’t remember the exact dating, but it was before 6 weeks), the heartbeat could be detected, but not measured. This has been a healthy pregnancy and I’m due in about a month. It is definitely possible that everything is normal, since you don’t know your exact dates.
On the other hand, when I had my 2 miscarriages, the sac was not even detected. So at least you’ve got a sac and fetal pole!

Like @Lyndzo I, too, waited a long time for my first ultrasound – I didnt go in until 9 weeks 2 days because I knew that early on is sort of diaappointing. That little thing was wiggling and dancing in there. As long as your insurance covers U/Ss, go back in a few weeks and you will likely see more.

I had my first ultra sound at 9 weeks and couldn’t see much, all we got was a photo with a TINY grey spec in a sea of black. It doesn’t surprise me that you couldn’t see much. He showed us the heart best but frankly neither of us could see it. I am sure your LO is fine. I am looking forward to our 18/19 week scan where our baby will actually look like something other than a blob.

My doctor doesn’t schedule the first u/s until 8 weeks. When I went for mine it turned out I was only 7 weeks and yes we could see the heartbeat and the sac but that 2 weeks makes a huge difference.
At 5 weeks the baby’s heart is only just developing, not yet beating. I don’t think it starts beating until at least week 6. My cycles were 32 days and I didn’t ovulate until day 20. My EDD based on my LMP was a full 7 days off, if your cycles are 36 days your EDD based on your LMP could be 11 days off. If you’re 11 days off you aren’t even at 5 weeks yet which means the heart hasn’t even developed.

I think you’re too early! Like @Lyndzo: I didn’t go in until 8 weeks and was able to see a heartbeat. Most doctors recommend that you wait til 8 weeks for this very reason. Please don’t worry!

You guys are wonderful, yet again. I called tne nurse hotline who was able to take a look and reassured me there was a baby. She said it looked like we we were just a little to early. She said she would talk to the doctor and I would probably just get another next week.
I’m still worried though. I hate google

@LadySmurph: Google sucks but read misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com there are a ton of stories of ladies that measured earlier than they thought and went on to have healthy babies. It’s my last strand of hope!

@LadySmurph: yeah seriously you need to get off google, it sucks. its not helpful to read all the possible worst case scenarios (which is what im personally drawn to, maybe youre reading the good scenarios) as it just stresses you out
try to stay strong and wait a little bit before the next scan. wishing you the best of luck!!

Definitely sounds like it was just too early, especially given your irregular cycles. I know it’s hard, but try to stay positive unti your next ultrasound! I am sure everything will be just great and like a PP mentioned, stay off of google 🙂 🙂

Nothing to worry about. My ob doesn’t even schedule ultrasounds until close to 8 weeks. Bc you can’t see much & it’s hard to see. I’d definitely try to get it scheduled for like a week to 10days away. Good luck!

Oh girl, you are fine! Look at all we saw at 6w2d
Just a teeny spec. I can’t remember if it was 6w2d or 6w4d. Actually, I’m pretty sure it was 6w4d.
And that was a transvaginal. They couldn’t see ANYTHING abdominally.
