- Wedding: May 2014
Hi TTC Board, I’ve never posted over here before (but have thread stalked )
FI and I are getting married in May, and we’ll both be 32. Because of my age, we don’t want to wait too long to start TTC, but we don’t want to do it quite immediately after the wedding as we’re going to be looking to buy a house and want to try to focus on one major, life-changing event at a time haha
We are looking to probably start TTC in August 2014 – I already have my annual gyno appt. at the end of July, and we both agree that probably would be the best time for me to have my Mirena taken out.
It’s just such an exciting time because never before in my life until we got engaged last April did I want a baby (always knew I wanted to be a mom “someday, in the future, like in 10 years)- now I completely have baby fever. FI was a little hesitant when we first got engaged to talk about getting pregnant so soon after the wedding, in his mind he wanted a house and to have all the ducks in a row and everything. When I explained to him my personal concerns about my age and fertility and trying to have 2 babies before age 35 (my personal preference, if possible), he slowly came around.
Now he’s just as excited as I am, he even mentioned last night about getting pregnant before 7/4 (when we go camping and to this country music festival for 3 days annually with our friends) but I told him I’d like that to be my “last hurrah” as far as drinking (I’m not a big drinker but we have some drinks while camping at this particular event). I’m planning on breast feeding (again, if possible) and so I’m probably not going to be drinking for a good 3 years between pregnancy, breast-feeding and then trying for baby #2, repeat. Also because we’ll be getting back in beginning of June from our honeymoon, and looking for a house in June, maybe July – it just seems that using my already scheduled annual appointment as the time to get the Mirena out just makes sense. And talking to my gyno this past year at my visit about prepping to TTC, she said you are fertile immediately after it’s taken out – no need to try to wait until hormones are out or anything like the Pill. I’m already taking pre-natals as she suggested.
I don’t really have questions now (to post) but just wanted to share my excitement!!! I’m trying to only talk about it with FI, as my mom has wanted grandchildren forever and I can’t get too giddy around her until we’re actually pregnant, for fear of getting her hopes up too high, too early. She knows we’ll be trying after the wedding, but I don’t want to share all my excitement yet with her – there’ll be plenty of time for that once we hopefully become pregnant!
I spent my whole adulthood trying not to get pregnant – this is going to be soooo weird!!
