I swear by The Daily Plate. Part of livestrong.com. It will give you a calorie structure for how much you want to lose. It puts eating in perspective and you will make healthier choices. I do at least a 30 minute workout 3-4 times a week. The weight will come off you just have to have discipline.
I know you can do it!
I think you can do it. That is four months and 15 lbs. So about a pound a week. Weight watchers is great too and addictive. However, you won't be able to do alterations in the meantime. What did your tailor say?
@Ms. Caniche: That is a very interesting site--I like it. Thanks for the tip! Now if only I could get some of that discipline... :)
I didn't break it to her yet. I know, so bad. I'm hoping that if I get down 15 lbs by early April, I'll be good. It's pretty bad when you are dodging your seamstress!
Ooh girl. Don't spend the money. I feel like the same thing's going to happen to me! I'd try the "pound a week" thing, or else i'd probably push myself to get on that treadmill twice a day.
In fact, maybe I should do that anyways! :) Good luck! Try sparkpeople too, that might help if you don't like the daily plate (who knows, different things work for everyone!)
@madcitybride- You have discipline...stare at your dress every day :) And think that you will be stunning in that dress, Which you will!
@laboroflove- Totally agree about different things work for different people. My bff did not think it worked for her.
The best luck I have had losing weight is on soup---this is not a wierd crash diet or anything, just homemade soup. I would make a big pot on Sunday, and then have it for dinner every night. Soup is very filling, and (can be) super nutritious as well. I tend to be starving when I get home from work, so being able to heat & eat RIGHT AWAY really helped with my problem of grazing a ton of calories before dinner was ready.
Worked for me--your mileage may vary!
You can absolutely do it, we are wedding day twins!!!! I am planning to lose that much too before the wedding/first fitting (actually WAY more, i have a unrealistic goal ). If you want, we can be health buddies until the big day, send me a PM if u are interested. We can exchange email addresses and keep eachother posted.
I am not very disciplined either
Thank you bees for the pep talk! I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...
Yuuu can duuu eeet! I know you can and so does this guy!

Hopefully, you've seen "The Waterboy."
Whenever I feel down, my bff says this to me in the same accent as Rob did in this movie. Always makes me crack up too.
Yuuuu can duuu eeet!!! :)
I think you can get in the gym and shed some weight. Let your wedding be your motivation!
You totally can do it! If need be, you can spend the money on alterations rather than a new dress. I'd stick with what you've got. You were that size six months ago and you will be that size again!
You absolutely can do it! SparkPeople.com is also a good site, similar to the Daily Plate. Good luck!
You can do it! And even if you don't lose the whole 15 lbs, see if your seamstress can put in a corset back :-) 4 inches looks fine with lacing and it will let you cinch it back down to wherever you end up with the weight loss! No need to spend a ton on alterations that way! Hope this helps....
15lbs in just over 3 months can totally be done! I joined weight watchers 3 weeks ago I've lost 8lbs so far and have roughly another 16lbs to go (I'm getting married in June too). I've never dieted in my life, but WW is so easy to follow and if you do it online there's forums you can join (similar to WB actually) to get moral suport from others following the plan. I'm finding it really fun and I never thought I'd say that about a diet! Also walking is a great way to lose weight, even 30 mins a day can make a difference ;-)
I know what you mean about stress eating, I do the same, I put on 2 stone in two years from starting a new job, studying at Uni and planning my wedding, but we can take back control!!!! Good luck, you can do it!!!! :-)
I'm a June 5th bride to and I just started my exercise/diet routine. The dress I tried on when I bought it was one or two sizes too small so when we ordered it we just went with one size up. It hasn't come in yet but hopefully it will all work out!
I totally hate exercising and dieting but I know I need to get healthier so don't just do it for the dress or the wedding, do it for yourself!
Cheering you on in however you decide to address this. I will offer one thing: I am loving the Spanx Slim Cognito. Seriously, the thing took three inches off my hips (FI and I used a tape measure to check).
You definitely have time to do it with dieting and exercise, but don't panic too much-- a good seamstress can add a panel, or add in a corset back. Even if you stay the size you are, your seamstress should be able to work with you. Good luck!
Well, ladies...week one and down 4lbs. Sure that's just water weight, but you guys have been my motivation! Thank you, thank you, thank you for the kind words and great ideas!!!
You can do it, as long as you have the determination! I'm a huge advocate of Weight Watchers and would suggest giving it a try!
You can totally do it, 15 pounds isn't much! I know, I know, alot easier to put on than take off...trust me I KNOW! YOU CAN DO IT THOUGH! If all else fails, do atkins, LOL :)
You can so do that! That's 3.75 lbs a month! All about diet and excercise! Also, take pix of your dress and post it wherever it is you snack most for motivation! (desk, on fridge) Good Luck!!!!
yes, I agree! you can totally do it! it's not unreasonable and don't let yourself be your worse enemy!! keep us posted!
I started a food delivery plan a while ago, and dropped 15 pounds!

If you're looking for a healthy way to kickstart some weight loss, this is a pretty good one. :-) No processed sugars... it's all very healthy food, but seasoned nicely so it's tasty!
I know how you feel....I'm in the same boat. I got my dress back in November and decided to try it on just for fun and it ziped only half way. I'm so disappointed in myself. I need to loose 15 - 20 pounds before October. I started the atkins diet yesterday and i've been doing pretty good so far, hopefully i can stick it out.
You can loose the weight, you have to focus...Good Luck!!!
Alright...I will probably get yelled at for writing this, but seriously it is how I feel. Just get it done! I preface that statement with hoping you don't have any type of eating disorder or have yo yo dieted in the past! Because if you (or anyone has) yo yo dieting can completely mess with your health including your reproductive, heart and skin! Not worth messing with...so disclaimer over.
When I say get it done...here is my prescription for actual results for a beautiful bride.
1. Do not eat past 6 pm...Absolutely Not, no food.
2. No Booze, even if you need it want it (if you do thats a problem)...two weeks prior to the wedding, begin a re-introduction program and have a couple drinks just so you are not bombed by your toast!!!!! Remember alchohol is completely empty calories, and creates massive bloat. You don't need it!
3. Vitamins...get on em'! Vitamin B, Chromium Picolinate, Vitamin C and a really great mutli-vitamin plus a skin, hair and nails formula. Take them in the morning with a sensible breakfast.
4. Two a Days...think wake up with sit ups, push ups and a 20 minute fast walk. Follow up with a real cardio workout during the day. Focus on two areas you really want to see results and push yourself...no pain no gain!
5. Enlist a friend!!!!! Get someone you absolutely trust involved in your dilemna...not the Bee Board (though we are awesome) someone who can motivate, chastise, lecture, etc...who won't be insulted when you tell them to go stick it!
6. You are what you eat, what foods can you not live without, for me oddly pizza and peanut butter. Every morning I have my guilty pleasure peanut butter and am generous with myself when I feel I need some pizza for lunch. But, balance is the key and you know exactly what tips your personal scales!!!!!
7. Be kind, set a reward. As others said YOU CAN DO EET! Reward yourself in some way as you watch the pounds go bye bye!
8. If all else fails, talk to your DR. you may be able to go on a prescribed medication, with real oversight, by a real medical professional just this once (and depending on your currect health and past medical history)...There are magic bullets, they are expensive and take a major toll on your system, but they are out there. If you are desperate talk to a professional, but do not try to circumvent a REAL Dr. if this is your last resort.
im so in the same boat as you. Im drinking lots of water and eating fruits and veggies not so much bread or sweets.
I think you should try to shed the extra weight! If you love that dress and spent the money on it then why not curb how you eat. Instead of stress eating unhealthy/sugary foods, try to go for healthy foods! Like grilled veggies, or salads, or switch to healthier boxed/canned foods. Look at the sodium and sugar levels.
But the best thing to do is stop drinking fruit drinks with a lot of sugar in them and pop. Switch to water! It will help a lot. You can also put water flavor packs in it also.
Good luck!
I agree with Ticker, just do it! You can do it, and you definitely have the motivation (a gorgeous dress with an equally gorgeous bride in it). Its going to be hard but when you think you can't do it, go put your dress on and think of how long it took you to find the right one.

Six months ago I found the perfect dress. It not only fit my curves wonderfully, it really fit my personality. I couldn't wait to have my future hubby see me walk down the aisle in it.
Fast forward to today. Thinking about my first fitting, I tried the dress on just for fun. Surprise--it doesn't fit. I mean not just snug, and I need a girdle. Like, 4 inches between zipper sides doesn't fit.
I know that I tend to stress eat and between a stressful new job and wedding planning, I've been eating a lot. But, now I'm worried. Should I get down to business and try to shed 15lbs in the next 6 weeks for my fitting or should I get a new dress right now (I'm getting married in June)? I really didn't want to be a fat bride, and I'm afraid that my dress won't look as good in a size bigger.
*sigh*
