I'm sure it will all work out for the better...take a deep breath! You still have plenty of time and New Orleans is full of caterers :)
We are only about 1 month out from our wedding and just found out last week that our venue no longer has a chef to cook for us! Fortunately we (not our venue) found another one pretty quickly, who was available, and who is actually cheaper than our venue would have been for the food!
Things always have a way of working out...
That sucks! Have you looked into having your favorite restaurant cater? They are usually cheaper than wedding caterers (with more things added that you are not nickled and dimed for) and you already know what the food quality and taste are like. Also, they don't need advance notice several months ahead of time like a wedding caterer does. A week or three is plenty but ask them to be sure.
If you want to do the tasting yourself, then don't let anyone stop you since that is your right as a bride who is planning her only wedding. Plus, while people may share similar tastes in foods, no one but you knows exactly what you like and what you don't, which is another reason to do the tasting yourself.
Oh bummer! But... like you said, better to know now that a couple weeks (or days!) before your wedding. 6 months is still plenty of time to get a caterer nailed down.
Good luck!!!
Thank you ladies. I just sent out my first email to a baker and it made me crushed thinking that I wouldn't get to taste my cake before the wedding. I guess I am happy that this happened with 6 months left. I would be crushed if it was 1 month. @gretchin405 I am so sorry you had that happen but you are lucky you found someone fast!
My fiance is working till late tonight. We will have to talk tonight about if we can afford for me to fly in for tastings or not. We have a very small budget so adding extra trips means that I have to take the money from some place else :(
@Selene221 what a great idea about asking my fav rest! I don't think they do any catering though because I asked them about doing my rehersal dinner and they said no. :( maybe one of my other favs will have to do
@nola, you won't know until you ask. Make sure to speak with the manager since the hostess and other servers don't have that information.

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I have posted before about the lack of communication with my caterer. I just got a call from the person he bought the bakery from and they said they would back out. He isn't answering anyone's calls and the last two payments he made have bounced. My guess is he is gonna be out of business before my wedding anyways. I guess it is better to find out know instead of the week of the wedding.
UGH so I have to start looking again for both the caterer and the baker from many states away. My mom and Aunt have said they will go do the tasting for me. However, I really wanted to do it myself. UGH UGH UGH!!!
Just a vent. I am half shocked half not but very much dreading doing all of the research all over.
