Fiance is type 1 diabetic and so I can somewhat empathize.  He had been taking insulin shots three to four times a day and finding different injection sites was quite difficult after almost 25 years.  About three years ago the government introduced a program subsidizing insulin pumps and supplies and we signed him up.  His life has changed drastically since!  He changes his site every three days and is only on a quick acting insulin.  His blood sugars have been quite stable since – no more highs and lows!  The pumps are quite expensive – averaging about $5000 in Canada, and the supplies are about $200 a month (which is also paid for through the program), but even if we had to pay out of pocket I would still have him on it.
