I just bought a whole bunch in the garden center at Home Depot. They are really nice and sturdy, and were $2.99 or $3.99 each depending on the height you want. If you don't have Home Depot you might try Lowe's.
They weren't on sale - they were just in a stand in the garden department - the indoor part, where the pots and things are. I bought ten just before Christmas for some decorative lanterns I had bought off ebay, and was actually stunned myself at the price, since they are really heavy and nice. The bars are squarish and black, a little bigger around than my thumb, with a bit of a decorative flourish on the end of the hook, and the ones I got are about 3.5 feet tall when in the ground; the larger size was about a foot taller. The part on the bottom that sticks in the ground is about 6 inches long, with two legs, so they are really sturdy. I just went back last week and bought another dozen for my mom (six short, six long) who has been making admiring noises about them for months now, and they were still in the same place and still the same price. Actually (IMO) the Home Depot website kind of sucks. I tried to buy some house numbers on online that I had seen in the store, and they didn't have anything like the same style and price online (although the salesclerk had told me I could get them from their website). I would just run out to the store if I was you. Good luck; I hope you find them!
i got mine originally at Joann's at 50% off so the little ones were 1$ and the higher ones were like 5$ - then i went to dollar tree and they had them! you can order from dollar tree online or go to the store. i would not recommend buying the hooks online as you have to pay for shipping. joann;s still has them and i think they are now 40% off.
as for the parasols oriental trading already sold out and i don't know how fast you need them since they won't back order/stock them for another month or so - i called and that is what they told me - it was 12 for 30$ plain white ones. i DID score really cheap ones at 32 inches diameter at asianideas, com - the red and yellow ones are on sale now at 3.75$ and the rest are about 6$ with shipping about 8$ - the customer service is AWESOME. if you want to PM me about this please feel free as my wedding is may 24th and i got all this done recently while taking a xanax - j/k about the pill =)
They are cheaper at Home Depot than JoAnn's--- they were plain shepherds hooks with no lights- so you will have to add something to them, but that's what I bought for my wedding. They were 4.27 each or some weird # like that.
Aw I went to Home Depot yesterday and looked everywhere (outside in the garden centre and inside as well) but could not find shepherd's hooks for less than $18 each.
I tried to buy 45 parasols from Asianideas but the shipping is more than $100 for Canada!
how muc is it to ship from US to canada? i would be happy to have them sent to my house and then i ship them to you... i just got mine in the mail and it was FAST - i am in VA and they shipped from PA so it was very close - if you can find out how much shipping is from VA to canada i will be willing to help you out... =)

Not so sure about the Sheperds hooks - my highschool graduation has always had them (but they might make them in shop...) Sorry

Thanks!

posted by ATaleofTwoCities 5 months agoDollar tree! I got some plain black shepherd's hooks for $1 each. They're not the nicest or sturdiest, but they'll do for 1 day. :)
posted by dezziemon 5 months agoI second Joann's. They were recently 50% off at my local store--I got a few of the smallest sized ones for $1 each. I heart Joann's.
