Quick question...might be a stupid one...continuing on my sega about being a bridesmaid..
The bride hasn't mentioned a thing about shoes yet. (The wedding is in August) And I don't want to open up my mouth either. (It's a long bridesmaid dress so i'm hoping it won't matter) Should I say anything or just keep my mouth shut and pray she won't bring it up? (the dress is in an emerald green color-Since I'm covering all the bridesmaid costs for myself, I really don't want to spend the money to either dye the shoes or buy ones that will go with the dress-unless they're in a tasteful color that I can wear again)
You know it's funny...I'm just a bridesmaid who's more paranoid and excited about the plans than the maid of honor is! (it's just going to be the two of us)
(the dress has been ordered off netbride.com and coming in July so here's hoping!;-) (keep you all updated on that experience later!) (the MOH ordered hers so late that hers is coming 2 weeks prior to the wedding! ;-) (I know it's not supposed to be funny but when I found out that SHE was procrasting over it, that's just ridiculous!)
I don't see why you can't ask. Just ask if there is a particular shoe or color she would like you to wear, or if you could just pick them out on your own.
Maybe you're all going barefoot? Or possibly she just hasn't thought about it yet. Does she seem like the sort of bride who wants you all to wear the same shoes? If yes, maybe you could propose a couple of options that you like. If not necessarily, maybe ask what color/style of shoes she was thinking about having you wear. Hopefully she will just specify black sandals or something, and you can find your own. I would hesitate to just keep my mouth shut, in fear that some crazy shoe mandate would surface two weeks before the wedding, causing you a lot of stress. If you don't want to ask the bride, maybe you can email the MOH and have her find out? (I know, she procrastinates too... best I can come up with though.)
I would ask. I was in a wedding where the bride had originally not said anything, so we all figured that we could wear what we wanted. Yeah, that isn't what she meant. I had to go out to WALMART after the rehearsal dinner and buy the only silver shoes they had, which of course happened to be heinous! Luckily, the dress was long so no one could see them. =\
just ask now, it will save the pain of searching under pressure later on. if you havent gotten your dress in yet i might wait so you can try it on w the dress.

Thank you all very much in advance.

So long story short: ask her.
